Na he doesn't need the engine now just uses the winch '

I walked to the garden fence and took this photo. Although you
may not realise it but this is after alot of the torentail rain has
soaked away. Especially when you consider that the field has
good drainage so it is rare for it to flood unless it is really really
bad. And it has once been to a metre below the rail tracks on
that stretch of embankment



Although I'm not too well I did get the spacers cut for the hub
cap clips. I switched to an alloy pipe which could be cut using a
plumbers pipe cutter with a square edge. Something which would
have been even harder to accomplish with a grinder. Not to
mention cutting with that pipe cutter was very accurate give or
take a millimetre, compared to a grinder(and a lot less messy).



Health permitting I will make a start on the clips them selves tomorrow.

Over the past few days I have ordered a couple of things off ebay.
One of the them was an opportunistic buy, as a plan 'B' for
something I have had done a while ago.

As the mk2 neon r/t springs are copeing well up front on the car, the
rear I'm not so sure about. And may or maybe not be better having it
lowered a little. There was a mk2 neon lowering spring kit, going cheap
on ebay and at £10 plus postage of £15 I got it.

When you consider they usually go for a lot more than what I paid, &
I don't like spending much money. When they arrived it was straight out
to the tool shed with them!!

Why because they did not come from a smoke free home, and the box
stank of cigarette smoke.



Another purchase is an ON-OFF-ON toggle switch which springs back to
centre, and it is suitable for 12v dc 40amps. Which should be suitable to
be used on the winch according to the manual for the winch as the max
size fuse it states for the model I've got is 40amps. I ordered 2 incase I
lose or damage one. They came this morning too.



I also ordered a spray can of VHT silver paint for spraying the pipes of the
exhaust. Which hasn't come yet.

After spending some time this evening with a pair of needle nose
pliers, and small craft/model making vise. I have hopefully finished
modifying the 20 hub cap clips I need to fit to the wheels.

So weather permitting I should be able to fit them tomorrow.

One of the guys posted this, and I had never heard anybody doing it
before when they mention using a winch and they don't show it on the
television when you see them winching!

That's because it's television. Think of what happens if a very heavy duty elastic band snaps while you are stretching it between your two hands. Now, multiply that by a factor of (probably) several thousand for a steel cable. It's probably the best advice you've been given throughout this entire thread. Right up there with "don't crawl under a car unless it's on jack-stands".

And not forgetting "quit footering about with toys that do nothing for the prospects of the car and get the darned thing running!"

How about a bunch of RR members descend on you some day and give you some support with making the car work - in exchange for teas and HobNobs?

Not at the minute john, there is a lot going on which I can't say or
post on here! Plus there was a call on friday from the solicitor of that
relative who's house we were clearing, and said we can go back to
finish it off! And all this just got mentioned this afternoon.
