Richard I had a bit of a problem with a couple of sensors & getting
some wiring diagrams with plug pin out showing the wire colours.

There are differences between different states in the USA let
alone the differences between USA and the different countries
they exported the cars.

I have also being trying to either get a company that can remove
the security protocols from my ECU, or get a replacement ecu which
doesn't have those security protocols.
If it has the protocols it won't even turn over.
(Yes I am assuming that the garage hadn't done it before the owner
did a runner)

Well the car has been moved over slightly so I can get around the
car more easily. I think mother is going to say I went to far cutting
back the hawthorn.

The battery tray went back in with a little struggle on the bolts. I did
have problems getting he output shaft speed sensor plug staying put.
With the battery tray out It went on and locked in place. I had the
same problem with one or two other plugs. So far I had no trouble
getting the battery in and out.

Image

As I couldn't find the gasket for the throttle body, I used some gasket
paste before securing it firmly to the manifold. This is when I notice
another little problem with clearance. This time the way the plug gets into
the misfire sensor on the throttle body, it sticked out to the coil pack and
spark plug wires.

Image

I pulled the sensor the one on the left is one off a mk1 neon the one on the
right is the voyager. I will need to get a plug off an old neon engine harness
and change it over so I can use the neon's.

Image

As you can see the voyagers is on the left and has had it. The sockets are
pointing in different directions this why I will be using the neon's old one.

Image

The neon's sensor fitted with no problem, and it is clear to see the improved
clearance.

Image

The spark plug wires have been terminated at the coil pack, but one end on
the plugs needs a new clip so I will need to get some more.

As I pushed myself doing the car today, tomorrow I will take it easy. Aprt from
dropping the tow bar bits off to get welded. So dad can give the hull on hos
boat it's second coat in places.

Immobilisers are a pain in the backside. Good luck and keep up the good work.

Well today didn't go as planned, and mother said as dad used to weld
for ICI and out on the oil rigs he would be upset that I took the tow
bar bracket bits to foster law fabrication to be welded!!

So be grudgingly I gave in!

This thing was hanging from the ceiling in the tool shed and I don't
think it's native to the UK!

Image

After side stepping that thing, got the parts out for dad to weld.
And here are the results.

Image

Image

And now for the something wrong I knew was going to happen!
It has pulled in so much at the open end you can see the lines on
the bench where it should be!

Image

Image

If I try to pull it out I'm going to lose the curve aren't I!!!
And as it is at the moment it is useless, and I know it is going to upset
my parent's if they find out I a, going to have to cut it up and take it
elsewhere to get it properly done!

Then there is the fact that as dad is off work, finding a time when he
isn't home is another hassle.

Dear God! Who needs locks, bars and a hungry Rottweiler for security when you've got one of those.
Looks like the sort of thing that juggles pit bulls for giggles

 Quit whining Aron, it's the harmless and actually very friendly British Garden Spider or, to give it its Sunday name: Araneus diadematus.

They're quite musical too, my garden's filled with the things and they do a great acapella cover version of Alice Cooper's "School's Out".

John there is an area of Peterlee which has had native British spiders
mated with escaped imported south american jumping spiders.

There was a collector who's mom didn't like them and throw them out
without even realising what she had let loose. And the council didn't
want to know even when the council tenants were bringing in
captured ones! They love the old warm air heated systems that the
council put in the houses when they built them in the 60's.

And after staying at a friends in Peterlee I have seen them too.
I leave spiders alone normally as they eat the insects I hate.

:o If I were an invading foreign spider I think I'd have gone for London rather than a random new town in the north, but each to its own!

Seriously though, that does just look like a bog-standard garden spider, here's a good image of one that I borrowed from someone via Google:

That'll be me awake all night now, afraid to put the lights out!

Er I need to put the lights out as I have the windows to try and
cool down it's 20+ degrees out side and hotter inside and the
lights invite the insects in!

As some of you (I am including other forums) said to try jacking it out to
the correct gap, I tried it! And what I said would happen, did happen!
It started to straighten out the curve.

So before I cut into the welding a show of how bad it is on the car.

With the left side bolted on and the 'C' bar pushed back into the plastic
bumper cover.

Image

Image

There is a felt pen mark on the bumper which is the exact centre point, as
there is a white chalk mark for the centre of the 'C' bar.

Image

Here is how close it is along the bottom of the plastic bumper cover
once a notch was cot into the end plates, and the corner welds had
been cut into and the bracket squared upto where it should be.

Image

Image

Well this is as discrete as I can make the the cross piece of the bracket.

Image

Time to make the bit for the tow bar ball plate to fix to!
I used what was left of the 3" x3" 8mm plate angle iron which as used to
make the side parts to go over the lip and under and across the C' bar
where it had been reinforced in the middle.

Image

Image

I removed the bracket and made the other piece mirroring the one above.
Using a scrap bit of 'C'bar behind them and a bit of cardboard under them
to get them roughly where and what position they should be in.

I have yet to make the plate to which the towbar ball will be bolted to,
as I have ran out of steel plate which is thick enough. I am wondering if
I should not have some small bits of metal plate cut to reinforce in the
corners inside between the side and rear bar?

And I will be taking the main part to foster laws to be re-welded sometime
this week, possibly Thursday. So if you think that I should do those
reinforcement bits please say so now!
