That's the thing, it usually clears, and you think whooo, then it's found to be a fraud, is cancelled and the funds removed from your account, so not only are you goods down, you're cash down depending how much extra they've alleged to pay.

Seriously though, could you not take out cash as soon as the cheque clears then instantly hide it somewhere?
