Next time be more specific in your question then :P

Anyway, a candy metal flake purple wedge would definitely draw my attention at a car show. Someone who is rather better with photoshop than I am (I would mention a certain popular GPL alternative but everyone giggles when I do) needs to draw one up.

GIMP is wonderful. Sadly, all I can do with it is attach breasts to things that shouldn't have them.

Audacity, however, I can operate without L plates, but sadly it does sounds rather than purples. :(
Come on Terry, surely you can make the GIMP work properly? Pleeeeeease make a purple wedge.

Looks like the colour on that Plymouth is most likely one used on the Prowler, it's lovely.

Many other delicious suggestions have been made on another thread: http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/ ... ned&page=4

The current thoughts have turned again to rear lights. I really dislike the factory offering, I always thought it could be better. But it's a battle to find anything that suits better. This is the blank template I've been using to mock things up, there's a maximum usable height of 6" to fit new lights into.
Image

There have been some suggestions on other forums until someone cleverly suggested the Alfetta, a car that does look like a Princess from certain angles (no really, it does, but not if you look properly). But to start with you end up with this, which isn't so hot.
Image

Until you remove half the lenses and turn them around and then you get something very appealing.
Image

It's all planning at the moment on this one, it doesn't *need* to happen, but if I'm repainting it would be neat to change the lights at the same time. May go bumperless, may keep the bumpers on, I've not decided on that one yet.

The last one looks the better of the ones you've posted. If you had the space I would have
suggested a corvette set up. like so!

Image

How about this as an idea but you would need to get it so that the lights are split between
the tailgate and the lower panel

Image

or more modern 2005-09 mustang

Image

Or you could make up your own with clear lenses and use led strip like on these 74-78 Trans Am set

Image

Or do something like this.

Sorry for clogging up your thread but hope it gives some ideas

Trouble is they're all too tall. There's loads of American lights - just like the above - that I really, really like, but they don't fit. Shame really, but I think the Alfetta lights are a suitable solution as the original units can easily be cut in half, the lenses obtainable and LED bulbs a very real possibility.

But I shall keep looking, there may be an even easier solution out there. Better yet, there may be a more affordable solution that I've just not considered. This is an idea I've been trying to crystallise for 2 years now.

Using the led idea I used ms paint, copied the centre bar on one of the camaro lights I had
posted to come up with this. With Led light strips readily available off the internet it might
be a matter of tracking down what you want be it surface mounted or flush fitting

Image
Outer clear for indicators and center for reverse.

As I am up most nights to the early hours so plenty of time to look. So try and give me an
idea of how you want it and I will track some stuff down but remember you will be mounting
these yourself! if surface mounted you will need only holes for cables and screws, but if flush
you will be cutting out strips and there will be structure to consider behind that panel and the
tailgate!

Have you had a look at the LED light units available for trailers? the ones on the farm trailers look like these
Image
If you google "trailer led lights" there are hundreds of options all designed to be mounted flat so should be a fairly simple fit.

Well I had a quick play, using some fairly generic lorry rear LED lights, and whilst not too dissimilar to the originals, after shopping some Skyline GTR round lights on, the oblong shape looks loads better than anything round :)

 @ Rob's satin purple! That's it, that's the way to go purple yet to be different ('cos there are thousands of shiny purple ADO71s all over the place..), satin finish, it looks amazing.

Rob, my apologies if it's meant to shine but as it is, that's a marvellous effect that would suit the wedge perfectly. Especially with some super-shiny orange accents here & there. :D
