Hi guys
i think you are ambsolutely right im poping the sjmp off this mornjngto.see what its like inside. i got to take off the anti roll bar but thats not a major job. .
my thoughts are now turning to paint and colour matching. i have access to a nice paint shop but i need to match colours with the original colour. what the plan is is to match and seal up.the body for the winter then strip and respray the whole car in the new year. . does anyone know where the colour code is located on the daimler. i thought it was the plate inside the engine but no luck there.
Thoughts.
Ps i will get around to photos honest !!!

Hi guys
well after a weekend of sump.cleaning i removed a large amount of sludge from the sump.and.also the crank and the oil pump.cage. having replaced the sump and put.in fresh oil the oil pressure is registering 40 ib at tickover and 45-55 at 2000 revs.
Interestingly 90% of the smoke has now vanished and this was improving as i managed.to take it.for a little drive arround a friends local estate on private roads. next issue is there is a leaking gear box oil cooler fitting. i think its been unseated so i might replace.it as i think i stressed it when i moved the pipes during manifold drilling.
many thanks for all.the help guys it is really appreciated its teally started to reach mot time ..
Best regards
lee

If you mean the fitting that screws into the casing for the cooler pipe to fit on to, I have those.

Clean it all up and positively identify it as the leak, and if it is let me know and I'll sort one (or two if you need two) out.

The very first bloke I worked for in the motor trade (while I was still at school) had one of those, so seeing that brings back more than a few memories...

Hi everyone
I am very close to finishing the care off and all is now working well but there is something that is troubling me. when I put the auto box into either drive D1 or Reverse with my foot on the break there quiet a big jolt in the car. The car does not surge forward but it is a noticible jolt. Having never driven an automatic I am unsure if this is normal or there is something lurking in the drive train I should take a look at.
Any advise please guys. THe car did have a new torque converter fitted in about 1990 and has done minimum miles since.
best regards
lee
