trying to register my grey import mr2 i am having lots of problems, toyota europe wont give me a full certificate of conformity.. this could end up costing me €12,000 to get it through all the tests... chatting to the tester who told me that extreme mods on cars will result in even french registered cars will have to face the same tests... these include & 7 km downhill brake test & only engine mods that were carried out by the factory will be allowed so v8 ford escorts etc will be out
happy days
time for a micra moment..

Latest from MAG is that the time has now arrived to get those letters off to your local member of the Transport and Tourism Comittee (TRAN).
Not all MEP's are members of this so you may have to visit the MAG UK website to find out which one is the TRAN member in your aea. There might also be a template letter there that can be personalised a bit before sending off to the appropriate bod.
I e-mailed Paddy Tyson, MAG's campaigns guru the other day suggesting liason with all concerned parties in the classic and modified car world, as I'm sure there is plenty of common ground to be found here.
Working with MAG is often a good idea as they already have consultancy status with the UK Department of Transport.

Let's hope we haven't spoiled Paddy's holiday Norton!
Good to know that there's at least one other MAG member on the forum.
Were you also perchance an AWoLly before its sad demise?

No, im an MCC member and do Bike Rallies but ive never really been into custom bikes, i do however know Odgie.
There was one AWOL project bike that took my fancy though - 'Gnosis' - not your usual V-Twin powered custom.

I had a short correspondence with Odgie when he was AWoL Editor. Nice bloke. What's he up to now?
I went to see Gnosis at the Bike Art exhibition many years back - stunning! Very disappointed that John Reeds Euro-Vee had been taken back to the US by the time I got there - it was the only bike he never finished.

Two examples of vehicles that Siim Kallas (Vice president of the European Commission for Transport) has singled out as not being eligible to be classed by the new EU Regulation as Historic vehicles due to modifications... apparently their Historical value should have been preserved!...
1931 Riley 6 litre aero engined special...
(but he will no doubt be pleased to hear that its still got Riley brakes)

Norvin - Norton frame, Vincent engine...
A more powerful engine AND uprated brakes

Christ, I enjoyed that Odgies site, kind of took me back to my 80's BSH reading days. Like the Nortons too mate.
I wouldn't worry about the thread drift, seems to happen a bit round here

which reminds me, I might just have a Guzzi coming, but that may have to be on another thread
and back on track, if those two motor vehicles you just posted are not historic....were buggered

Thanks for the links Norton. Maaarrghk! loves Norvins and has a mate in France (but from Rochdale) with an F1 as a kitchen ornament and a 920 Comando with Quaiffe box under restoration.
Good to read Odgies account of the Ant Hill Mob - I remember seeing them at York Raceway in my teens - but why no photo's of their "Pit Crew" who were apparently recruited from the local girls grammar school if my failing memory serves me correctly.
