Just seen the Cortina GT episode on More 4. Strange it was handed back without number plates, was there some sort of identity issue? Anyway, you'll be glad to hear that the Austin in Series 1 is still going strong

I took this photo last Saturday.

Have any of the cars been sold on , after they had had a free restoration? That fella with the Austin , and the lady with the Herald , I could tell , they , would never part with them .. In fact, he was beside himself having his car back on the road !!

Nothing strange about the Cortina GT number plates. It left with them in the car to put on later.
There is a suspicion one has been sold as a picture of it was in Classic Car Weekly but cannot confirm.
Series 3 is being filmed now with two cars already returned and one almost ready. Can't say what. Car SOS does have a Facebook page as does Westgate Classics.
Nice to see the Austin around. The Escort RS1600i has also been at a couple of shows.

One thing that I'm not sure about - didn't the Austin/Morris 1100 come out a month or two before the Cortina - and didn't they have front disc brakes as standard?
I suspect it's a little pedantic - but I do remember seeing 1100s before I saw a Cortina. IIRC, the first 'Tinas I saw were a year or so later than the first 1100 - but one of Father's friends did work for the Morris main dealer and we swapped the Moggy Travellers around that time - both of them came from that main dealer!

I liked that one. Phil, you looked like you were enjoying that chequered flag-waving action.

At lease it ended up with the right engine in it. I can't see the appeal of a Herald with a 6-pot engine - though the doctor had a proper 6-potter during the sixties (and it could fly - literally!).
How did it produce the sparks? I saw a fairly old coil and plug leads, but looks can be deceptive!
I'm looking forward to next week's episode - if only to see how many of my ideas they copied! (OK, I know the series was made before I got my Landy... perhaps I will get a few ideas from Fuzz!)

Missed it

Is it available on any of the "on demand" places or any other catch up forum?

Good news!

It's repeated during the week, not sure when but a few weeks ago, when I'd watched one episode then erased it, my PVR assumed that I must have erased it in error and it recorded that episode for me during the second showing. Bless that PVR, it's good at that sort of trick. That, and refusing to switch itself out of standby mode when I set it to record anything with blood and gore in it, such as Party Political Broadcasts, Newsnight, Question time and that kids' documentary series about the purple dinosaur.
Oh, and it's available on 4OD for those who like their life easier and without the stress.
