I will definitely post some more pics when I have them organised. Too many to go through at the moment and I am not real happy with the quality on many of them. I might take some stills from the video.

We tried to find a nice home for the Fiat. Unfortunately there was an abundance of cheap semi-knackered cars available. Essentially without Queensland registration and a roadworthy the cars were worthless as they could not be legally driven anymore. If the auctioneers let us sell them with interstate registrations intact, then they would have appealed to the backpaker market and sold for much more.

Two of the cars I knew were thrashed during the rally and seriously busted underneath went for the highest prices (a Hilux and a Mazda 121 Metro). I guess this is because they were late-90's cars that only had stickers on them. Peel off the stickers, give them a thorough detail and you would never know they had been rallied unless you looked underneath.

I'm looking forward next years rally now. I'm considering a VW T25/T3 VW Transporter. If I do get one it will have stickers only fitted and I will remove them before sale, or buy it back for myself. :)

The route next year will be Adelaide - Uluru - Fremantle. Much harder than this year.

They do take international entries. One couple from Maryland USA flew into Melbourne two days before the rally and purchased an 87 Holden Astra. They made it to the second-last day before the infamous Family-II engine overheated and expired. :(

Cheers,
Brett
