Oh bugger!! Yes Gary Gabelich knicknamed the 'Hippy Astronaught'. Killed in a motorcycle accident. The record of 622.27 MPH was set by the gas powered rocket car 'Blue Flame.' The land speed was broken by Thrust 2 but the flying kilometre record set by Blue Flame was only broken by Thrust SSC 27 years later. Blue Flame is in a museum in Germany. Goodyear said the tyres were only rated at a maximum of 700 MPH. The car hit over 650 MPH at the end of 1 kilometre. The engine was shut down and the car coasted through the mile. It is believed with the right wheels the car would have been going well over 700 MPH at the mile post.
Which means zipgun you are IT
