Mornington Crescent, anyone?

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Oh bugger!! Yes Gary Gabelich knicknamed the 'Hippy Astronaught'. Killed in a motorcycle accident. The record of 622.27 MPH was set by the gas powered rocket car 'Blue Flame.' The land speed was broken by Thrust 2 but the flying kilometre record set by Blue Flame was only broken by Thrust SSC 27 years later. Blue Flame is in a museum in Germany. Goodyear said the tyres were only rated at a maximum of 700 MPH. The car hit over 650 MPH at the end of 1 kilometre. The engine was shut down and the car coasted through the mile. It is believed with the right wheels the car would have been going well over 700 MPH at the mile post.

Hello Tony, how's Arnold these days? By the way; what do those Australian insects taste like? :D

Best say your name just in case someone sneaks in while I'm fannying about with all that:

Tony Blackburn?

 And that's what happens when you post clues in other threads, ah the joys of reading every single post!

OK, I shall be E. British, alive and male. To keep this quick, 'cos I'll need to be going to work and start my setting up in the next hour or two :( , here a clue to get you on the way:

My given name is also a famous brand of carbonated soft drinks and my surname would take some licking! ;)
