Well the one at the front looks like it has copped a facefull from the one at the back

I was supposed to be taking it easy and only doing a little light work on the car.
Yeah right!!!

I got the angle iron for fixing the fans drilled, the out came the grinder to shape
the part to the curve of the top of the radiator support.
The fan fixing bolts will bolt down over through the top of the radiator support.
Doing it this way will make it easier to bolt and unbolt it, otherwise it is to fiddly.



I have carefully cut and filed down one of the fixing bits on the fan housing. So I
could get it as high as possible and as far into the centre as possible.
The bonnet realise cable had to be fitted too so I could figure out what goes where!



As the fan will be sitting flush on the radiators, so I carefully marked out what needed
to be trimmed and what could be used. As I was trimming the edge I kept a tab of
metal which a hole was drilled into and made flat and bent to make a fan fixing tab.





I think I screwed up with my measurements somewhere!!
As that bracket should be fully on the bottom of the slam panel.



I used a small G clamp then dropped the radiators in.
The fan fixing bracket will be welded to the slam panel, so that paint
will need to come off, Bugger!!!





The bane of my life at the moment, the lower radiator outlet pipe!
I will be taking the radiator down to Hartlepool Radiator Co in the morning.
hopefully they can but a 45 degree bend in the pipe to get it away from the oil filter.

Good News AND Bad News

The Good news first.

I managed to get the parts I need for replacing the droplinks for £7 inc p&p
And they came in the post this morning.

The Race radiator was dropped off at Hartlepool Radiator company this morning,
it could be ready tomorrow at a cost of £15. They are putting a 45 degree
bend/angle on the bottom pipe to avoid the oil filter.
It's cheaper than moving the outlet entirely and quicker.

The transmission and engine oil pan bolts, I managed to get replacements.

Hammerite are changing the size of their paint tins, so some stockist have ran out
while hammerite get their act together, I did get 2 small tins of red to do the touch
ups and other bits.

The car front hend is up on axle stands, with the wheels off and the contol arm bolts
etc sprayed with penetrating oil(wd-40) then wrapped in plastic.
And the bonnet prop is back on so no more using a peice of wood.

The bad news!!!!
I'm very close to my overdraft limit on my bank account(money next week I hope)
The radiator hoses look like the dogs have been chewing them!
The end plate of the transmission is over the wishbone/control arm on the car, I am hoping
that it is a case that as the front mounts have not been bolted together that the engine and
transmission have tilted top forward and bottom backwards and bolting it up will solve it!
if not the rear mount will need to be re-drilled and connecting bolt lowered.

and health wise I have picked up an infection in my leg so antibiotics, bang go my taste buds
as all I want to do is throw up all the time.
The forecast is bad for the next 36 -48 hours so time to rest and reseach.

As I couldn't get any sleep, I had a little rethink of the adapter/mounting
bracket for the bottom of the radiator.



It will be simpler to make and fewer parts, and adjustable!!

I forgot to mention the auto parts shop couldn't help with
the exhaust manifold gaskets.
Luckily I found a USA seller on ebay who has a set and very
cheap postage compared to others.
So all in postage, taxs and cost of gaskets is $21.59 USD
which is £13.94, which is cheap.
But the question is how quick will they get here!

It is now 4:50am and it is raining, I'm going back to bed!!

Just a couple of photos. Yesterday I had removed the cooling fan
when I jacked the car up and put it on axle stands.




Here is the right side upper mounting bracket which is a mirror
image of the one currently on the car.



As you can see now with this bracket, having the bolts going down
through the upper part of the radiator support makes more sense.
As it would be too fiddly to bolt up, and harder to adjust the fan.

The second 12" cooling fan arrived in the post today.
So I got both of them together and mirrored the trimmed part that
was on the left side fan.



An email was sent by the seller of the exhaust gaskets, they posted
them today vis USPS, with a 4-6 week ETA.
Which they usually deliver in half that time depending on customs.
Lets hop the Royal Mail don't destroy this delivery!!

Well I got the email from photobucket

Mother took me down to collect the radiator, before heading to hospital.
As I am on antibiotics, this helped with a little problem.
As the nerves in my feet and legs are shot, I didn't realise that a nail
had gone through my deck shoes and into my foot! I only realised that
there was a wound when blood stains were left on cushion I rested my feet
on. So hospital every week again for check-ups on my feet, to think I had
thought I might have a good few months without my feet causing my problems!

Not much done on the car as of the time in hospital.
I dropped the radiator back in when I got home, the angle of the picture
isn't very faltering but the new angle of the pipe is perfect, and at a
cost of £15 no complaints.



I put a jack under the front engine mount and took this picture, it isn't
very good but does show what I mentioned about the overlap of the end plate
of the transmission on the wishbone/control arm.



lifting the front mount, which tilled the engine back did slightly correct
the problem. However the bolt through the rear mount is too high and will
need to be redone so the engine and transmission can be put at the correct
angle to avoid the wishbone/control arm.

One thing I did find out was the front mounting bracket on the engine needs
to be taken off an attacked by the grinder or the rubber mount holder gets
in the way.

The wiring table I finished at 4am, was destroyed when open office crashed
while it was trying to save it as a microsoft document!!!
I will be redoing it tonight which will not be fun!!

While trawling through files on the laptop, I found a video file off when I
was inspecting the Voyager engine while it was still in the vehicle.
Yes I have a video of it running, the cat was cut out of the exhaust so it
was blowing. Srry not very stable camera work enjoy.

A good reason to invest in safety boots with a nice steel plate in the sole. I wear them daily, they're cheap from machine mart and they're VAT exempt...

So are we going to be seeing you in Whitby this weekend?

With my feet not possible, especially as this was the first time anything like this has ever happened.
If I put hard or new boots on then I may as well book a bed in the intensive care ward again.
My feet doesn't have the padding or muscle on the sole everybody else has.
I stopped wearing callipers against doctors advice, as they caused wounds to my feet and it took 3-4
years to heal as my body's immune system is compromised with not producing the right amount of hormones.

Thats a fair point, but I have this compulsion to try and prevent injuries. I spent too long as a first aider in a manufacturing plant, and saw a few things I'd rather not remember.
If you have a comfy pair of shoes, a pair of these might add a little something extra. Just a thought (You can also slip 'em off so you don't get earache about trailing muddy footprints into the kitchen - something I know all about)
