Good work there, It's good to see the problems being ironed out. I'm still watching with interest.

Same here, I'm waiting for you to get an MOT on it and start Porsche baiting. I do like a street sleeper, especially something as anonymous / completely unregarded as a Neon.
I feel the need to get something like a Bubble car Micra, chassis it for RWD and stuff a small block with nitrous in it

To ad to my reply above if the car you were getting the drive train had a front wheel drive option
from the manufacture then it might be a bolt-on to the gear box for the 4x4 part.
Err how can I put it?
Using mine as an example the gearbox is used on the FWD and 4x4 by removing the part for the
right hand side drive shaft and bolting the transfer box in its place so that side of the gearbox
drives the back wheels as well as the right front drive shaft I could get 4x4 from that box.
All I would need is to blank off the front axles for just rwd or have fwd for economy and 4x4 for
nutteryness
Also if you had a transverse engine with a gearbox as stated above it would be minimal work, as you
run the prop shaft down the exhaust tunnel. The exhaust would need to run along under the foot
wells with an adequate space between the floor and exhaust. Which would only leave the tank and
possibly the spare wheel well depending on the setup!
If the spare wheel well is not interferring in the placement and use of the rear axle, then you could
use that for mounting a fuel tank in as to keep wieght above the axle and keep the centre of gravity
as low as possible!!
Just a thought for you!
Has the last cpuple of post including this one gone to ppc rather than pc?
(ppc = practical performance car
http://www.ppcmag.co.uk/ this thread is on there too)
I will now go back to my chilled rum and cola.

I was thinking remove transverse engine, put in live rear axle, mount replacement engine north/south in the "Proper" orientation.
Would need serious work, but in the midlands them previous model Micras are not classics and not rare either.
Wasn't thinking of 4wd, but its a nice technical exercise which can start on a piece of A4

I've got news for you starting off on a piece of A4 is how this v6 swap started!!!
By the way do you think the word "nutteryness" would be the best description for a 4x4 turboed bubble micra?
note
I made the word "nutteryness" as there wasn't anything that came close to what was needed in a descriptive context!

Suicidal is probably more accurate.... Along the lines of a smart car with a Hyabusa in it- - - On Nitrous

a smart car is too predictable. you should get a g-wizz and put an aston martin v12 in there

at least the base car will be cheap.

a smart roadster with the hyabusa engine and nitro has been done,
there is one in the Practical Performance Car mag.
so has the smart car if I remember correctly.

Newsflash Terry; Smarts are cheap. Not so cheap that I'd rip out a perfectly good 800cc Diesel with a nice map on it to fit an MR2 engine in mine (that's a known and well tested conversion), but cheap nevertheless.
I rather like the idea of a G-swizz with an engine, but I prefer the idea of burning one and parking in the puddle left by it.
