On this subject of high performance commercial vehicles, has the law changed regarding speed limits?
My only motoring fine to date in nearly 50 years of motoring, was in 1975, when a bored traffic cop spotted me driving my privately registered Mk1 Escort van at 68 mph on a de - restricted (70 mph) dual carriageway.
The speed limit for such vehicles at that time was 50 mph, and I eventually received a fine of £9 and an endorsement.
I have often wondered if the law has changed, when I see light vans pass me on the same road at 75-80 mph!

As I understand it the rules today are that commercials are restricted to a lower speed limit, 50mph on normal National Speed Limit roads, 60mph on Dual carriageways. It gets tricky where Car Derived Vans (up to 2 Tonne) come into play. This has led to cases on our favourite average speed camera stretch of road, the A9 Inverness to Perth, where a Vauxhall Corsa Combo can travel at 60, but a renault Kangoo and some Berlingos can only do 50.

Apparently, to make things even worse I'm told it can also vary depending on how the dealer first registers a vehicle of this type, be that as a "commercial" or "Car derived van".

Confused? That'll be you, me, and, just about any commercial vehicle user............. Then there are Land Rovers, I think my dads Double Cab Defender pick up may be able to do 60, whilst my sons Series 3 can only do 50 (probably a good thing) due to it not having a row of seats behind the driver, oh but then it may depend on how the bloody things were first registered and we really just can't figure it out for sure

If you can read this, i'd suggest clearing the cache in your web browser and seeing if that sorts it

Lucky that I can read it now because I have no idea what clearing the cache in the web browser means. But thanks for sorting the problem.
