Hi, I've just joined this forum and look forward to having a good read. I'm a Classic Ford lover, more specifically escort mk2's, but I've also got a Mk1 golf GTi which is a stalled restoration at the moment. I live in Chester and am a member of the North Wales Classic Ford group, attending local shows etc. hope to speak to many of you soon.

Here's my escort

And the GTi before I started on it.

I'm Phil. I've just found this site. What classics have I owned? Hmmm......most of them were still being made when I owned them, they've become classis since. First one I owned was a 1955 Standard 10. I learned to drive in and was originally my fathers, a 1951 Chevy. Fantastic car. 9 of us went to Mallory Park in it. I've had 1964 Vauxhall FB Victor that I shoe horned a 2.6 litre Cresta engine into, 1955 MKI Ford Zodiac with Raymond Mays engine. Went like stink but wouldn't stop. 1959 MKII Ford Zodiac with down draught head and triple carbs, (same problem as MKI) 1964 Mini van with a Cooper engine and disc brakes, 1962 Ford 105E Anglia with 1650 Cortina GT engine and Classic brakes, 1972 Triumph Stag (stolen) Rover SD1 2600. It had to go after dropping liners (3 times) then cam belt broke and scrapped the head plus if you kept very quiet you could hear it rusting away!! Bedford Chevanne, 1987 Ford Capri 2.8 Special (Stolen twice!) Volvo 240 because it was cheap and I needed transport. My daughter hated it but never complained if I took her round to her friends! I currently own a Volvo S40 and a 1997 Chrysler Neon awaiting a bit of TLC, Current classics, a 1944 Willys MB, 1942 Dodge WC51, 1944 Leyland Hippo 10 tonner a 1927 BSA 500 M/C and a 1942 Ford GPW jeep currently undergoing a total restoration. Ultimate Classic car? 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner or '69 Dodge Charger. When the lottery comes up it has to be a Dodge Viper. Pure Mopar magic.

Hi guy's.
What can i say here??? i'm a feckin old reprobate with a petrol/oil formula running through me veins, and a cabbage for a brain. i am 51, disabled due to having bones made of cadbury's crunchie, some call it brittle bone others call it Osteoporosis , i call it a pain in the proverbial arse.

Currently i have a 69 Triumph Herald, soon to be ford powered, hence the screen name, i hope to put a 2.0l pinto into it, ifi can find the right lump at the right price.

Welcome to the forum :)
Have you thought about a Zetec or Duratec? They are a progression of the same engine, there are literally thousands of them in scrap yards and they can be converted to run on a webber if you don't like fuel injection.
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

Hello all

I'm Mark Wibberley and I run the Morethanpolish and Race Glaze car care products companies - which are situated about 30 yards from Practicals workshop in sunny Barnack, nr Peterborough !

So, whilst I promise not to spill the beans on whats going on there - and there has been an almighty clearout over the last few months, so I expect a steady stream of new projects to turn up, it is interesting to see whats being worked on. Or just dumped..

Dannys V8 Rover regularly tests up and down the yard - as he says, most of the output of the engine is delicious noise. I used to own a 1977 2200TC, my first car and have run a modern classic for 10 years, my daily driver 1991 Porsche 944 Turbo.

We've supplied a few bits of emergency car care stuff over the years and understand classics so are always happy to advise on products for yours.

Sadly with the demise of MaxPower they'll be no repeat of the lasses draped over cars which greeted our arrival at the units on our first day - they were good sports and did respond to a polite request to show a little (actually quite a lot) more..

Well done to Neil in starting this up

Enjoy your cars folks

Welcome Mark,
Don't spill too many beans about what we get up to at the workshop, some are still guessing to its location!!!

We all want a sneaky preview on what is coming up in the next few months. It's a shame Google street view isn't live action ;). The last time I was at your workshop was just after the Jag had come back from dipping. I suspect there isn't one car there now that was there then.

Newby here :D

Hi guys I'm Joe, from London, newbie on this forum.

I'm a lifelong biker but with a interest in classic cars since I was a kid. I have a weird taste in cars, most people tell me I like crap cars but I think you guys here will understand

I have a fascinaton with transport for the masses of old. My dream garage (although possibly nightmare garage for many) would include the Seat 600, Seat 850, Renault 6, Renault 12, Morris Marina (my dad had one), Vauxhall Viva, Fiat 500, Seat 127, Fiat 126, the list of "crap cars" I like is endless

I have a fascination and long time love affair with Moto Guzzi motorcycles and owned five of the beasts at one point although just down to one at present.

I look forward to expand my fascination with classic motors.

Miles make smiles :D :D :D
