Just as well you own a JCB as making a hole big enough to do what you are looking for may take a little while with just a spade.

Saying that with the French attitude to work it will take several years even with a JCB ;)

Rich, it's not size of the bone that counts, it's what you do with it.

these have been in the ground for quite a while.... seems a bit odd to bury cow bones in a 6x2 foot trench

just a quick update.... the chaps arrived & promptly left again as the bottom of the trench wasnt flat enough or level.... wish they had told me that before i started, when i asked for specification from the rep he said between 60cm & 1 metre deep...so i spent 2 days with the machine & level giving a slight fall of 4mm/metre to reduce the risk of air bubbles in the pipes etc.. when they finally came back it was painfully slow as the main plumber was called away on other jobs.. when wifey gave the salesman a bit of an earfull they finally got the system running on friday before christmas... 1 hour before we left for blighty.. we had endured -6 c for about 3 weeks so we had only the fire to keep the house warm but our bedroom was only around +12 c... when we came back the house is nice & warm, although its still not finished & the guys wont be back for a while.....i cant even get to finish backfilling the trenches as its just a bit wet....

ive always said never let a frenchman work on your house.....
