Re: Insurance rip off
My renewal with FJ was the same as last year at just over £330. After I'd given them my new address which had changed since the last renewal and removed 2 of my cars from the policy it went down to £250.

This got written off 2 years ago nowsuffolkpete wrote: a lot of repairable cars are being written off. How green is that?

Most of that would T cut out, worst case scenario, bit of slop, quick rattlecanning and worst case scenario new bumper skin, £100-200 tops, but no, wrote it off and paid out £750 (ok it had already been a Cat D and repaired by then but that would have taken me a few hours to sort.
Wife just got the renewal on the modern, over £600 up from £280ish last year, OK we had a claim when she lost an argument with a trolley park in the supermarket, but has protected NCB, the usual quick quote of the usual sites come back with around £300, including the same company that quoted over 600 to renew.
It makes you wonder how much they make from the older type that just renew without questioning as they've been with them years and never bother to shop around each renewal??

Re: Insurance rip off
When some cretin did this to my daughter's Clio in a car park

I didn't even bother claiming on the insurance as it would have been written off for sure. There was a £500 excess on the policy on account of her age so the payout would have been little or nothing. A new wing was only £23, so I was able to replace it and respray it properly, with primer, basecoat and lacquer and have change out of £100. Bumper scuff was fixed with a rattle can of bumper paint. Result - one low mileage one previous owner car back on the road.
