There's an active Datsun Micra forum as it happens, I just spent a most enjoyable half hour dribblin' and a droolin' over the members' cars. Enjoy! I did.

Its everything an old car should be, overpriced, impossible to get parts for, in no way does it look like 150K’s worth, unlikely to get a second look from most people, horrible to drive....!!!

Some friends of mine have just moved to near Angouleme in France and they too have found this and they mentioned that soft top cars are not that popular for this reason (They have a Lotus Elan Sprint, a Lotus 6 & 7 and a dismantled MG Midget, so lots of soft top stuff!!). However, the Elan has had more use this year than I think it's had for years I think I'd put up with it, as I did gladly in 1984, the year I bought the Midget (That was a good Summer, not as long as 1976 but the local reservoirs were all low by September).

The major drawback for me (Apart from not being very good at French and liking British food) would be that the French don't have preserved steam railways like us. I suppose they didn't have a Dr Beeching, to shut down so many of their branch lines or a Woodhams scrapyard (http://www.penmorfa.com/Barry/), who sat on the locomotives so long that people began to buy them to restore.

I am mad about Mercedes ( i have several ) but i saw on our local internet auction site a listing for a low light Fiat 850 spider. My mum bought one new in 1968 and it served us well for about 2 years before being traded on a New V6 Capri GTE . I would love to buy this one but with 13 mercs about the place I have no where to park it while I gather up bits to restore it. ( it's rotten as per usual) . A Miura would be nice too ..
