The only gunmetal, that I've seen was metalic but it was a very forgiving colour.

No  Still deliberating. All that's holding me back from the cream/green combo is wondering whether or not these two-tone colour schemes were uesd back when the car was new, or are they a modern phenomenon?

Does anybody know if metallic finishes like the gunmetal one would have been available back in 1948 too?

Thanks,
Paul.

Right: It's settled. Two-tone cream and green as per the bottom-right immage it is. It's time to go paint shopping!

New problem: How do I spec the paint without colour codes? Do they do colour cards or something?

Yes, any decent paint factor will have colour swatches that you can browse so don't worry about picking the wrong shade.

I had a mate who had a Land rover in the same or similar colours to the bottom right example... we all said it looked like a Pacer minty chew. you need to be of a certain age to know what a pacer is though :)

Pacers, for anyone who isn't "of a certain age" are an Opal Fruits spin-off sweet, as seen in the piccie above.
