Here's the place to chat about all things classic. Also includes a feedback forum where you can communicate directly with the editorial team - don't hold back, they'd love to know what they're doing right (or wrong of course!)

And it still holds true today around Birmingham, except the weapon of choice these days is a Micra
That's because they've sold all the clapped out Datsuns to the local taxi drivers - judging by the last time I took a cab in Aston....
Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.
Being ex-funeral fleet it will have been looked after. 108k miles is nowt for one of these. 7 seats, all belted & very spacious/comfortable. Large? Maybe but with the the rear wheel drive you'll find one of these turns as well as many modern fwd motors. It will also turn heads and get noticed. Add to this a couple are owned by enthusiasts on the Volvo forum, so advice/knowledge is on tap Good Luck.
It's not for me but this would tick all boxes of the original posting - ok it's black but black is the new white ? both our modern A-B motors are black.
1937 Jowett 8 - Project - in less pieces than the Jupiter
1943 Jowett Stationary Engine
1952 Jowett Jupiter - In lots of peices http://Jowett.org/
1952 Jowett Javelin - Largely original
1973 Rover P6 V8 - Original / 22,000 miles
I had actually thought about limos, but this kind of thing always came to mind so in the end I kept coming back to estates. Really though, a full 6-door like that offers so much potential... The only box failed to be ticked is tax-exempt but considering the options for earning back some of the ongoing expenses, as well as the range of possible engine upgrades if I feel it's getting a little "boring", I think I can live with it. I'm betting there's plenty of room in the boot for an LPG tank, as well as any luggage that can't fit in the passenger cabin - you reckon the middle row folds forwards? I think I'll ask the seller.
Thanks Paul, I like that suggestion; I really do. So much so that I've impulse-bid

Yes lpg kits are available, also there is a chap ( a way off from you I know) in Anglesea who lpg's rwd Volvo's with his eyes shut . The tank will fit in the off-side well so little if no loss of boot space too
I've been known to travel… Tara came from Southampton way, my old Maxi was driven home from past Bristol (first time on the road in 4 years!), and my current daily shed was sourced through this board's predecessor & then driven nearly 500 miles in the first day! It's now gone on to do 5000 miles in the last 9 months.
If that guy's the right guy, I'll happily visit him. What size of tank are we talking about?
perhaps impossible to get one, the original Fiat Multipla from the 50/60's Or even the Mk2 bug eyed one from the late 90's. I think that one's going to be cult classic, seats 6 3+3. Petrol or Diesel. Even Top Gear liked that one. How about the Space Cruisers cousin the Datsun/Nissan Vannette. I remember there used to be a plush version of that with sunroof etc and 7 seats. Again most of them have probably dissolved by now.
