What classic vehicles have you seen?

A rather good looking Yank. The Lincoln Zephyr.

Sweet! Registered in 2005 it seems, so not Colin Spong's RHD, UK supplied V12 as restored a good 20+ years back. This is great news as it means that there are now two red Lincoln Zephyrs in the UK, possibly more .
Mr Spong overtook my Vastmonster on the North Circular after some show back in the nineties and the noise from that sidevalve V12 was.. Well actually, it was pretty much inaudible, very smooth indeed and made the Austin's big IL6 seem distinctly rough by comparison, though I could have done him in a straight race. Probably.

Also at yesterday's show was this little treasure. What is so unusual is that the owner has had the spoke wheels chromed. Chrome wheels weren't an option, supposedly, back in the day. I bet they were. But having chrome wire wheels will bring a volcanic eruption stronger than Krakatoa down on your head. There's nothing like an irate purist in full flow.

That lovely thing appears to have had the grille slats plated too. It pleases me that such sacrilege is happening because the resulting increase in blood pressure and face redness may kill off an anally retentive purism bully or three and that would leave more room for those of us who prefer to drive than to make a trailer quean of our cars.

'Trailer queen, I love it, although I should be wary of using it as an expression. The previous owner of my car had it for twelve years and only covered 1500 miles. He trailered it to shows and trailered it home again. When I took delivery of it, the wheels were, although imperceptibly slight, they were out of round.

You have my vote mate.. Unless, of course, the green party candidate is a particularly lovely, semi naked female human bearing a stunning resemblance to our beloved Ms Friel. The K10 Micra would be a given as thae green types are all for the ongoing preservation and use of old cars.

PS: Please add folk who say Queen when they mean quean to that list.

Queen: UK English, Her Majesty, old lass with a cheeky smile and a fan of Coldplay. Probably.
quean: Doric, as in quean (young female), female counterpart to loon: (young male), quean being the word that forms part of the expression "Trailer quean" meaning a vehicle whose owner is too mean to risk using tread from its tyres, petrol, etc. so, rather than have an enjoyable hurl out on the way to a show, this owner will carry their vehicle onto the showground in a manner which suggests to those of us who did drive there that the vehicle is knackered, kaput, broken and fooked.

The internet only gives you the written word to communicate. No body language, no nuance and no eye to eye contact, sometimes that can lead to unintentional ambiguity. I didn't say Queen, I said queen, as in a tea pot pose, camp posture, holidays in a row of pink tents.
Oh dear, I did use a capital Q, just changed it and left the evidence there. OK smart arse, you win this one.
