Hello All
Thought I would introduce myself having just joined the forum
I have three current classics,
A 1975 Triumph Stag in Topaz which as you can see from the picture is a deep yellow near "orange" my kids said I had been "tango'd" but she is my "old girl" . She is currently Sorn'd for the winter but is my rolling resto project .
She has done about 60K miles from new and I have replaced a fair few sections underneath so the floors are new and spotless. I have re-furbed the interior and fitted new leather seats, carpets and re -veneered the dash etc. All main panels are orignal as is the engine and box. She has a new soft top and I have the orignal hard top stored safely which is in A1 cond. Plans are for a re-paint of the engine bay and a couple of bits of bodywork which aren't obvious unless you look hard. May also swap to some 15" minilites as the original alloys are a nightmare for holding pressure .But I have polished them up to look nice.

A 1996 Jaguar XJ6 sport more of a modern classic now I call her the "old Lady" as she drives like new and has the lovely creamy straight six Four litre with the four speed Auto box. She was my Dads car for 14 years or so and has covered 80K miles with a full history. He gave up driving and asked me to sell her but I don't have the heart so I bought her to keep. She is near immaculate and just needs a few touches to bring her up to A1.

And that leaves the current project car a 1990 Mini Mayfair which is in the garage undergoing a full rebuild. In original (in parts!) Henley Blue with and Old English White Roof we call her the Smurf.
I bought ths for my lad who is 17 soon. He has been bitten by the classic bug having been around me and my car fetish I guess
This is what she looked like before I started

As always she looks nice and shiney in the picture but believe me she was a rusty old girl and is just about to be mounted on a jig so I can start work on the underside. She now sports a totally new front end and door step so we are about just over half way through the body work we have planned ;) .
Plans are to keep her very standard although with the cooper look retaining the white roof and maybe some bonnet stripes. She has only done 40K miles from new and two elderly lady owners kept every MOT and service stamp and invoice for us :D . The local garage they used patched her up and kept her going but I have removed most of the bodges and have replaced with either new panels or replaced with new metal. I'll start a thread in the project section when I get the chance.
I know a couple of big petrol monsters looks a bit exessive but I do love V8's and large engined stuff and can't afford to run one as a daily driver like everyone else the cost of fuel is prohibitive. This way I drive a Diesel for daily use and manage to keep these and run them fairly cheaply as classics during the spring summer and Autumn months when I can enjoy them
Looking forward to sharing my exploits with others and any comments welcome
Regards
Glyn :D

Hello all - I used to be registered on the old forum, but stopped visiting when I stopped driving 'classics'
If anyone remembers me, you will know I have a bit of a Lada fetish, but I am now resting by biceps and left foot by owning a Mercedes E220 Auto.

It is ... well... sufficient.

Will get into owning a classic again in the next couple of years, but for now I have a newborn child to transport around so luxury and safety are key.

I do fancy an Austin Princess though....

Hello, everyone.
I'm Mark Totty and while I've been reading Practical Classics for years, I have only just this minute joined the forum.
As much as I would like to, I don't own a classic, but drive a six-month-old Renault Clio dCi 88.
When I do get my classic, it will be a 1966 Lincoln Continental Coupe or a 1965 Buick Riviera with the 425 Super Wildcat engine.

Ay up!

I'm Xantia-nut but my real name's Nigel and I own a Citroen Xantia 1.8 LX. Yup, the poverty spec model. She's up in the air right now at a training centre I volunteer at while I swing big hammers at the o/s/f brake. I hope she'll be back on the road very quickly. I do like my little French bit!

Anyway, I'm hatching a plan...

Hello, I am Dave, from Cheshire, originally Manchester. I am 52 and have had a couple of what would now be classics, several years ago, an A40 Farina (first car) a Mark 1 Escort and two Mark 5 Cortinas.

I am a 60s and 70s Ford/BMC nut and am looking for a new project

Hello

New here, so this is a little about me. I have had various older cars over the years, mainly Triumphs. More Dolomites than anything else, but i havent had a Triumph for over 5 years now. Now my older cars are a MK10 Jag, and a Peugeot 405 MI16.

Anything old or interesting always appeals though.
