I'd like to say it was the new terminal assembly, but she didn't start after I'd fitted it...I not going to tell you what the final solution was!

Almost, but not quite as embarrassing would be running out of petrol but you would have established that this wasn't a fuel-related thing long before asking for help in a widely read, public forum. Wouldn't you? We've all done it, etc.

HT leads on the wrong plugs?

I have done it on more than one occasion, the last was when I was taking off the electronic ignition (and other "custom" bits when I sold the Maxi. I cursed at the cheap points that I had bought - after all, it was fine with the electronic ignition...JPB wrote:Fatbloke wrote:more embarrassingHmm, the only thing I could think of would be forgetting to refit the rotor arm and in spite of many glances at the underside of the cap, not realising that the arm wasn't fitted. Not realising that is, right up to the point at which you spotted the cap sitting on top of the heater. Come on people, we've all done it! Haven't we?

My other favourite was disconnecting the feed to the coil (or from coil to points) to avoid getting a shock when "tweaking" the points - or HT leads.
You miss all the fun with a diesel!

Luxobarge wins the prize for realizing how stupid I am!
My bet was it was the points that were the original problem. Someone must have moved the plugs while I wasn't looking...

As long as it is fixed it's all good

Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

No problem - all you need to do is to re-assemble the crankshaft so each individual piston is in a different position, re-profile the camshaft and it would've run!
