V6 into a RHD Chrysler Neon mk1
Re: V6 into a RHD Chrysler Neon mk1(SHE LIVES!!! only just!)
Well I had to use cling film as petroleum jelly is no good with the spray-on latex (spray on condoms)

Re: V6 into a RHD Chrysler Neon mk1(SHE LIVES!!! only just!)
Okay the door glass rattling and movement is worrying me incase I smash the glass
So after researching part numbers and trying to find a place that sells them online
at a good price I ordered the door glass stabilizers. Booth inner and outer for the
front as they get the most use and just the outer for the rear to keep the costs down!
http://www.moparamerica.com
4658332 STABILIZER @ $3.45 x 6 = $20.70
4615678 GLASS STABILIZER @ $4.76 x 2 = $9.52
Subtotal: $30.22 (18.50)
Shipping (USPS 1st Class International (Slow/Minimal Tracking Details)): $18.43
Total: $48.65 (£29.84)
It is problematic that the part is discontinued at most places and that the fiat dealer
wanted £10 ($15) per outer stabilizer when they are £3.45($5.63) if you can find them
online! Which if you consider that works out at £3.75 per including postage. I just had
to try and keep the cost down so Her Majesty's Revenues and Customs don't slap any
charges ontop like they did with the datsun gauges.
Fog has gone, But I need it to dry out a bit and the wind to drop before I lift the bonnet!

WELL!!! As some websites can use your UK car registration to bring up make model engine size and trim
I had been using this feature and hadn't really thought about why some didn't recognise the old girl's
details till now!
Then as I searched for the elusive door glass stabilizers, I found that it keeps saying that my car is not a
Chrysler Neon with a 2.0L 16v engine but a Chrysler Concorde 3301cc or other?

While the weather was t-shirt and shorts weather most of the day(scary me in shorts outside!) I got back
to working under the bonnet. The battery tray assembly had to come out to reroute wiring before being
bolted back in properly so the wiring could be cable tied to it. I needed the Transmission control unit out so
I could make sure that the loom wasn't wedged between the battery tray and gearbox!
Also there is very little space between the battery tray with wiring loom attached to it and the gear
selector control rod as you can see in the photos.

It looks worse in real life!!!!!!!!
And now for another disaster in the making!!! The datsun gauge mess!!!!!
I think I might have been better to cut the vent divider out and screw the two gauge fronts together than
mess about cutting up the damaged one to make it fit into a single vent! Also I think bumper filler is not
very good to work with like this.

Re: V6 into a RHD Chrysler Neon mk1(SHE LIVES!!! only just!)
And another mk1 neon gains a v6 engine this time from a post 2000 vehicle
http://forums.neons.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=412619
And a direct link to the video on photobucket of the car waking up from it's heart transplant
http://s171.photobucket.com/user/pimp_d ... b.mp4.html
I get the feeling that the v6 swap is now not so strange or incomprehensible a project as some
have made out, and yet these v6 swaps are still in their infancy!
AS it rains so work on my own wolf in sheep's clothing must halt, and wait for better weather.

Re: V6 into a RHD Chrysler Neon mk1(SHE LIVES!!! only just!)
Yesterday I had to trim the TCU casing of another lug/bolt hole molding on the side as it
was preventing it being fitted after a reworking of part of the wiring loom.
So I had do a bit of gentle persuasion with a mallet to help them vehave and fit together in
one place.
Before I even started on mine today!
I had to put mother's Vauxhall Astra on charge as somebody had left the lihjts on!
As I connected up the charger it hit me that the fan set was strange, one behind and one
in front of the radiator! If I had know I could have saved a few quid on my fans and gotten
two off cars at the scrapyard, and saved time with brakets etc.

I had to do a little work on my brothers Land Rover Discovery, as the connections on the
side lights had disintegrated!

I had a thought regarding the LPG vaporizer. The pipes would not be able to go past the
battery tray to where it used to be! So it might have to be mounted under the coil pack
bracket and the fusebox behind the TCU

I got the intake pipe and filter out to check clearances and confirm what I might have to do!
Which is change the box section on top of the battery tray structure which has the TCU and
fuse box on it. I need to raise the fuse box for the wiring. Luckily that box section is only
bolted on and not welded, so I just need to get a new bit of box section the right size.

And I dug out the inner door glass stabilizer off the drivers door to use as a guide for
getting something similar of the drubber to make it's counter part for the door which
has disintegrated.

I'm just having one of those days no matter what I do my pc won't work!

Bang goes all that information !

That's Windows for you!
It looks as though you're making some significant progress now on the Neon, seeing that LPG thingy going in there fills me with a mixture of hope and fear.
Congrats on getting a picture of the engine bay of a modern Astra up in the forum though, that's a first.

Re: V6 into a RHD Chrysler Neon mk1(SHE LIVES!!! only just!)
John considering how much they cost from a scrapyard and the fact there is a full shroud which
looks like they can be easily modified. The astra fans would mean that you wouldn't need to use
an after market kit which has to be mounted with anchor lines through the radiator fins like I
ended up doing!
I think the only good thing about the engine bay on that car is that the previous owners hadn't
tried to modify it unlike the rest of the car!
I had to thing about the LPG system for a while, I can think where best to put the gas and water
pipes, but the electrics I might hold off on till she has paster MOT!
The outer door glass stabilizer uses the same size and type of rubber but with a fabric covering
on a strip which slots in at one end and is held by a bolt in the other. Here is picture of a good
one. A used one and a new one and mine isn't even in one piece!

I nearly choked on my drink when I realised what else these door glass stabilizers are used on,
The DODGE VIPER!

As there is a need for 6 of the outer door glass stabilizers I might be able to reuse the metal on
most but I will need to make one metal bracket but the rubber with has felt or fabric will need to
be bout off the roll any ideas where I can get something similar?
