Hi All,
I just joined the forum and thought I'd introduce myself. My primary interest is my much loved 1986 (1987 Registration) Fiat Panda 1000S which has been in the family from new. I drove this nearly everyday until February 2010, when the inevitable rust finally became too much and forced me into a SORN. In the coming years, I intend to restore it to original condition, even if my fellow Renault workmates are slightly disapproving!!
My other specific interest is vehicle safety development over the years. I am very interested the history of seatbelts and child safety items in particular, but I also take a keen interest in other aspects vehicle safety (airbags, car construction etc). I am always looking for articles on seatbelts or child restraints, any old adverts regarding any safety products and of course the old products themselves!
Finally I have a love for those long forgotten workaday cars of the 1980s (Talbot Horizon, Nissan Cherry etc) as well as a deep fascination with old Soviet & Eastern Bloc cars - Trabant, Wartburg & Zil etc. Basically, if history has generally been unkind to it, I tend to be interested in it!
Anyway, I hope that’s not too long for an introduction and I look forward to getting more involved in the forum in future!
Gary.

Hi all,
I'm Chris, and I've got a thread up in the members cars & projects section of the forum, but had overlooked this introductions area, so I thought I'd better say Hi in here too.
I live to the west of Gateshead in a village which time has sort of forgotten haha - tons of retro stuff bombing about up here. 1967 Humber Hawk estate, '72 Range Rover, '76 Scimitar, loads of Imps/Sunbeams is various states of repair, VW camper vans, Mk3 Escorts, an eighties Manta and on and on!! My fleet currently stands at three Nissan Sunnys (1985 B11 saloon, 1987 N13 saloon and a 1990 ZX coupe), and my daily driver, a 2000 Primera estate.
Great site you have here, loads of interesting stuff

Hi, I'm Iain and have a '75 Midget and some other younger stuff. I've had the MG for 18 yrs now, but it only went back on the road in May after about 16 yrs, but you know how projects can sometimes drag on...
Over the past 20 yrs I've had a '68 Mk1 1275 Cooper S, a '68 series IIA Landy, a '72 MGB, a '72 911S, and a '73 280CE, oh and a '69 Beetle when I first passed my test. The Midget is loads of fun per £££, but there are certainly a couple I've had that I wish I had kept as they've appreciated somewhat!
I'll be looking for an all year round family friendly classic in the spring, but I'll have to sell something first.

Hello, I'm Chris from Toddington in Bedfordshire. I have a Midget 1500 that's used for fun, a trackday once a year, more if I can afford it and the occasional autotest. It's lower and stiffer than standard and has lost its plastic bumpers (though I did like the look with them, better suited to the midget than the B but the performance gain in losing them is much cheaper than any engine mods). Everyday car is a 1993 Saab 900, one of the last original 900s, fantastic car if you can put up with the fuel bills and the fragile gearboxes (manual or auto both not the strongest). I used a Mk1 Cortina for 10 years, including a bit of historic road rallying prices rose after I sold it. Much missed that one. An MGBGT was not so much missed but I didn't have it long.

Hello all
I am back again for 2012 - Some of you may remeber me from the old official forum.
I have had a busy year with lots of other work and family stuff going on, so little done on the cars, other than re-building the clutch hydraulics on the Herald estate. I am still working on "My Garage Manager" (software for keping track of your vehicle history), although not enough was done in 2011 on this. Hopefully I can get some more free evenings this year to carry on with the software development.
