Cheers chaps,
Terry, the boy has just fetched home a rather (actually VERY) decrepit 2 door Range Rover so I'm afraid I may be busy with the welder a while longer, else I'd have been straight on the moggy for you.. Honest
Anyway, last post of 2013, got round there bloody quick................the world doesn't seem to have ended with the passing of that Mayan calender thingymugig or whatever it was, though it does seem rather dark, wet and windy, hang on, thats just December in Caithness
Not an awful lot to see again but progress is being made, any slim hopes of a trial run have been put back a few months but hopefully not too long now.
So although it seems slow going at the moment, I've been fettling the decrepit doors and rear wings, pictures below, forgive the quality as it is barely getting light here at the moment, and forgive the layers of dirt that have built up again
So, passenger side doors on, the back one has been trimmed up with glass etc, the front will have to wait until I can order up weather strips etc.

Rear drivers side door is also repaired and fitted, again it needs trimming up with glass etc, ignore the poor looking fit in the photo, the catch isn't on yet and its just pushed to.

I got the wings and boot lid back from the chap who was shotblasting them, deciding it was easier to store the drivers door than the wings I diverted onto wings and boot lid.
Ive repaired the ravaged edges of the rear wings, and after much sanding, filling, sanding, painting, sanding (you get the whole soul destroying, mind numbing idea) I have the passenger rear wing and bootlid on.

Offside rear wing is now in paint and ready for fitting

so the front wings and rear spats are awaiting attention, here they are, lots more welding, sanding, filling etc to go.
Rear wing spat

The better of the two front wings needing only minimal welding, but has a lot of old dents and plenty of rust pitting to sort

The offside front wing, this has a lot of ragged edge to deal with along with a lot of small corrosion holes along its joint seams to be dealt with as well as the pitting and dings

So plenty still to go at, but looking back to this time last year "rusty" has come along and is now looking like a car that can see the road again. It's been a bit of a frustrating year with one thing or another diverting my attention from the car, but most nights I've managed to find an hour or at least half an hour, so if I only keep that up there should be light at the end of the tunnel soon.
Its that time of year, so all I have to say now is Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year to you all

Merry Christmas to you too mate - that car is looking terrific now, you've done a handsome job on a very limited budget. Don't worry about it taking more than a year - I took 7 years to do my Midget, and it wasn't as bad as yours to start with!
Good stuff, keep us posted!
Cheers

This thread is awesome, made more so by this latest bout of activity.
These wings show just how thick the steel must have been to start with, that's real quality right there.

Excellent work Mr Arceye,
the old girl is really taking shape now,
the repaired doors look like a very good fit.
Keep it up

As a new member, I hadn't seen this topic before - an amazing transformation compared with the original state of the car on page 1 - finished breakfast so no time to read all 13 pages at the moment but have bookmarked this for a proper look later

Great stuff arceye, she's really taking shape nicely.
I wonder what your "expert" brother thinks now - I hope you have a very large slice of humble pie for him!

Cheers chaps, thanks for the lovely comments, they do help keep the will to finish her going, will hopefully have more to show before too long into the New Year.
