If anything I think the roof will look a little looser than most vinyl tops and slightly padded, there's a layer of wadding material followed by a layer of hessian before the vinyl goes on.

The vinyl is then stretched over the roof as tightly as possible and nailed around the edges. Needs warming a little really to get the fit so a fan heater inside the car helps in the absence of good hot sunshine. It's a bit of a faff, but hopefully it will come out ok.

Good luck with it. I think a small number of RMs had steel tops with vinyl over that.

Nothing on mine but my mother's MGB GT is due for it's MOT (It's done 2000 miles since last year) and we tend to service it and do the rust treatment at MOT time. I noticed there wasn't a spare oil filter in the cupboard, so I'll do that next week. It's not done enough mileage to worry about the tappets or the plugs (Points are electronic). We took the wheels off and checked the brake linings; all OK, so just adjusted the rears and tightened the handbrake. As we had it up on the ramp we did the Dinitrol treatment; all was looking good underneath. As a mulitple of 1000 miles is nearly up, I went round the grease nipples. The grease gun at my parents' place is about sixty years old and it was first used on my grandfather's Riley RME :!: It's put grease into an interesting array of cars since :!:

Well that pesky misfire that seemed to point to the carb needing tuning resulted in me buying awhole new carb. The original had some sort of plating on the inside walls and all of it was rapidly becomming part of the petrol swmming about inside the float chamber. Off with the old, on with the new and suddenly I have a smooth tick over and take up of the accelerator, less induction noise and I hope better fuel consumption. With the new racing brake fluid also meaning that I can stop better than even before with no brake fade I am ready to roll! :D

Had a good look at the underside of the Herald. More rot found! Plenty more bodgery....

Decided that if I am to get this one moving Its body off time! Therefore decided to try and free up the wheels, so as I can move the chassis about etc. Both fronts seized solid or thereabouts. In freeing off one side I decided that I`d need to remove the caliper and locating a suitable socket bit decided to have a go. Only to break the socket bit, wouldn`t mind but I was only hitting it with me hand!
