For my Welding gas bottle. The bottle toppled over on the back of the trolley welder. Yes I know,I should have had a strap to hold it in place. I have a chain now,to stop it wobbling about
Interesting,thanks Martin

It doesn't matter what thread it is, it's screwed.
I'll get my coat.
Oh dear, don't get your coat, suffer with the cold for telling jokes like that

JPB wrote:It is tapered isn't it? Looks like an oil pressure sender to me, the pot type that goes with a remote instrument head. Same thread as the one I posted if you count the threads, and that's to fit a capillary to a Saab/Triumph IL4 or V8 oil pump.

I love your efforts on what it is

Looksrather a coarse pitch for BSP. Could be an NPT thread.

I actually have (or had) an app on my phone for this, have you looked to see if someone's made one for yours?

For that to work, the o/p would need to have shown the units of measurement, hence my comparison with a similar thread that
was given some sense of scale. The dearest camera in the world wouldn't tell us what the units are when none is visible, that could be the Inch, the mm, the chain or the fathom.
It's clearly tapered though, the fact that the taper is visible and that it's for a pressure fitting suggest that much.
Buy a rule with its units marked on.

If its for gas bottles its either BSP (looks a bit course for that) or NPT.

I think it is 3/8 BSP if its for a gas bottle. Most airline fittings are 1/4BSP so if you have an airline compare the two. Most plumbers should be able to help you

I decide to call the manufacturer of the gas regulator, and I was told that they use 3/4" bsp gauges
