Well it now has rear seat belts in, need to change a couple of bulbs in the warning light cluster and work out why the oil pressure light doesn't work, gauge does so not life or death. Also need to swap out that radio as the only thing it picks up is MW static.

If the oil pressure lamp issue is that wretched capless bulb in the cheese, I have spares for those, in fact I have a complete, spare cheese that you're welcome to have at cost of postage. It's more likely to be the sender switch though, they're rubbish these days, especially if bought from the big place in Lincoln.

I take it that Craig did use a T-piece when he fitted the gauge though? If not, then that's the reason the lamp doesn't light up.

It's not the bulb, I swapped one with a known working one, there's a couple that have blown but I shall pop down my local car spares emporium and grab a couple while I'm getting some new cable fit fit the replacement radio.

TBH I've not yet really looked under the bonnet at connections, I *think* it was working at one point, but the gauge tube is screwed in to bit next to filter IIRC (will have to go and have a nose)

Looks a lovely car Rob has it got halogen headlights? And I believe it has Sprint twin tailpipe(s) as well.

I'm guessing that's what the relays under the bonnet hinge panel are for.

Yes outers are halogens, well they have bulbs in and holes for sidelights, I do need to check them out as OS dip has a mind of its own for when it wants to work, makes life a tad awkward out in the country when it keeps going out, and main beam doesn't work when pushing stalk forward, but work fine when you pull back to flash, so I'm going to guess naffed stalk.

Exhaust is a mish mash, had 1850 downpipe and silencer,and Sprint tailpipes, it doesn't have a rear silencer so its a bit loud, so I may look into replacing it with something more suitable.

John, is the oil pressure sender wire white with brown tracer? If so it's dangling down next to filter, but earthing it out didn't put the light on, unless bulb has gone too?

Yes, that'll be the oil pressure sender wire. I'd be buying a T-piece and having both gauge and bulb working as they should, but that's 'cos I can't stand seeing a light that doesn't work!

Maybe the reason for the gauge being fitted in the first place was that the bulb in the cheese and/or the sender for the lamp had failed?
