The here is an option, we all text in and PC mag gets to know who
won the car. The winner gets to sell the car to PC mag, for small fee
to keep it all abov board (I think). As the V888 form from the DVLA
and any documented provided to the winner by the show, would show
who bought it and when. And which idiot MOT'd it, Which person
valued it, etc.

Hmm, the MGB didn't actually look too bad during the work, by which I mean that I could see proper welding going on (leaving aside the farcical dropping out of the back axle as a result of the obvious cuts to the springs

). And the mini that's coming after the Mustang - or possibly after the car after that as I'm not too sure of the order of these editions - gets new floor pans fitted so who's taking bets on just how deep the replacement sills will go?
I do wish that people wouldn't take such obvious satire as
Classic Car Rescue so seriously!

Did they? They certainly didn't give that impression.

No, but they didn't look like they were using new panels and all the grinding we see seems to have been done on the original - was it another shell from another car then? I'm intrigued how you can tell!

Just watched the MGB one this evening and, if it's not a new shell, they must have taken the engine out to spray the under bonnet area!
I wonder just who decided all the "features" were so advanced? EG leaf springs on the rear to give it excellent handling, one of the first cars to have a monocoque chassis etc. I reckon the commentary spoils the programme - it would be good comedy otherwise!

The B was reshelled yes, but not into a new one, allow me to repost this here from a comment posted on the AROnline facebook page
some of the comments made about Channel 5's "Classic Car Rescue" and the argument about whether there was one or two MGB's used. This is a section of C5's reply, "While the production team were filming in Canada, the mechanics in London discovered some serious problems with the MGB, midway through the restoration, which meant they felt it might not be entirely safe to drive. Their original plan was to buy a new chassis, which is a common way that people restore MGBs (you can buy an entire new monocoque chassis for just £1000) and build on top of that. But wanting to stick with used parts, they bought another car and used the chassis from that, transferring much of the first MGB, right down to door-handles, and windows. The cost of the second car was included in the figures mentioned and the end result was a combination of the two"
I'd also like to know where they can get a new shell for £1000 for, seeing as BMH want £7950 for the cheapest BGT shell!
