So jealous!! I want a GTE but they don't exist here.

There's a fella in the RSSOC who's sent a few over there as well as kittens for the Scimitars' owners to tool around in when the weather hots up a bit.
Also, a later Scimitar (a Middlebridge one as opposed to a Reliant-built example) was brought to Australia as recently as last October by someone who bought it blind via eBay.de and traded it for a late (2 litre auto) VW loaf. Hmm, frying pan - fire, fire - frying pan.

Yes, I could. We can import anything pre-89 and fairly standard without restrictions now and if it's 30 years old or older there's no duties to pay.

They are so cheap in the UK, it's well worth spending $2-3000AU on shipping.

I will look at it seriously when the Corona Coupe eventually sells. Someone is flying in from Perth to look at it in a couple of weeks. Here's hoping he likes it.

And finally......... the spares car (going by basic inspection(more to follow on that)

I collected the car today.

Initial inspection shows severe corrosion to the chassis, and plenty of surface rust in the engine bay.
The rear near side edge of the roof has a hole where a hinge repair was made. Otherwise I think the body may well be quite good if anyone needs one?
The interior is currently removed, and a reliant robin seat in the drivers position.
Carpets are u/s , seats may be recoverable after further inspection.
Spare chocolate brown leather seat set included SE5?
Powder coating on several of the composit alloys starting to flake but spare still good as was in the car.
Paintwork is so badly flaked off it makes it look bald!.
Engine turns well enough, but will have to check remaining mechanical's to see how they have faired after 22 years bare minimum movement.

With the corrosion issue of the chassis, and the exterior condition of the body, I fear this may well be only good for breaking up to support other cars.
It is now at the same restorers as My late father in laws Scimitar for a full evaluation, so only time will tell.
