Thanks for the comments on this, I have fitted an Accuspark kit to replace points and condenser. The car does start and run much smoother. But under sharp acceleration it jolts and misfires once or a cluster of misfires then its fine.
A few scenarios :
- rev engine when parked - smooth
- low speed driving - smooth
- pulling away at a junction with sharp acceleration - good response
- Driving along a straight with my foot down - intermittent jolts / misfire
- driving up hill with my foot right down - more misfire
Any ideas ?
Many thanks.Andrew

Always set the timing by hand on my old Rover as like some of the others have found the original specs just dont match the cars needs with the modern fuels we have today

You never said how the general ignition system has been attended to in your previous posts - sounds as though the plugs could be breaking down under load which they will do if past their best or coked up, so changing them would be an easy first step.
I have had a similar missfire to yours and found condensation under the dizzy cap, so that's another idea and lastly the leads could be tracking which would make itself felt under load.
Subbing a known serviceable coil will also rule that out and that more or less covers all the bases - taking it one step at a time is usefull though and cheaper, as you tend to find out which part of the system is at fault.
Oh, I forgot the rotor arm, that or the plugs first then
