Well, the 95 is going to be a spares car, so between the two there should be enough salvageble. Just took a phone call from the last but one owner yeaterday - very very interesting. Even though he used to be a banger racer, the westies were never going to see the track in his ownership he intended to do exactly what we're doing. Unfortunately circumstances went against him so he put them up for sale. Guess what? The usual story - no 'enthusiasts' offered to buy them, so he sold them to another banger racer, who again, intended to restore the auto and use the 95 as spares car before racing it at the recent Westie meet. Unfortunately, time was against him and he couldn't get the parts needed from the 95 and prepare it in time for the race, so he put them up for sale again through the auction! He's also going to put us in touch with another chap who's restoring an estate, as our spares car has some trim parts unique to the estates in the same colour as his car. He's also got he riginal buff log book and a few spares he's going to donate to the project. What a nice chap!

Banger Racer makes good!

Sometimes enthusiasts just don't have the money to save cars. I know I love the look of these Westies, and all Farinas made by BMC as well, but money is so tight I'd never be able to fund a resto. The way things are these days I think most of us have to think hard about spending. It's a bit like appeals for old churches and houses when you know something is worth keeping and restoring but the costs are prohibitive. I'm glad these aren't going to be destroyed anyway.
