Triumph Vitesse 2.0ltr convertible project
Hello, my father in law has died and left in the garage an unfinished project! He has a white Triumph Vitesse convertible 2.0ltr straight six in a garage requiring total refurbishment. What sort of price should I be asking if I sell it on?

I offer this shiny penny, and a half-eaten bag of Haribos. By that I mean I've eaten half of each sweet, not half the bag's worth of sweets.

May not be a bad offer - I've no idea until we see the condition. I'll match your half eaten bag of sweets and a shiny penny to also include a packet of polos and seven (7) fruit salads and 3 (thats three) blackjacks. I'm sure you'll agree thats a deal not to be missed.
Although I assume by the no reply from the original poster the car in question has been since weighed in for scrap.

I think what the others are trying to say is it aint worth a lot.
If it were me I would take lots of pics and along with an honest appraisal put it on e-bay with a low start – say £50 – and let someone bid you what they are prepared to pay because at the end of the day that will ultimately be what its worth give or take a couple of quid.

I used to have one, paid £50 for it on the road but that was a long time ago, give some more info, I may be interested but I'd sort the rear suspension it was terrible using one leaf spring running from one side to the other, very unstable especially with passengers.

Mrk 1 or mark 2? Also is it a genuine convertible with a CV commision number and a paper trail to go with it? It all makes a difference to price...there's a Triumph joke that the Mk 2 convertible is the only Triumph still in production....
Rear suspension isn't really an issue with the Mk 2 as its rotoflex axle, apart from the transverse spring, is a completely different beast to the Mk1's sing axle. Even that's nowhere near as scarey as mythology would have it.
Other things, is there an overdrive unit? if so, even if the car is completely scrap you'll get a bit more than a bag of haribos for a complete working overdrive set up- gearbox, O/D box, and propshaft and electrics together can fetch a lot of money. Look at the whels, has someone put 5.5J GT6 Dulop steel wheels on it? Quite sought after for a complete set, they're lightweight and look good, although most ended up on formula Fords in the seventies.

1968 Triumph Vitesse Mk1 2 litre convertible, Junior Miss rusty has a 1989 998cc Mk2 Metro, Mrs Rusty has a modern common rail diesel thing.
