breakdown truck
Re: breakdown truck
I've asked whether it could be made road legal and if so, whether it qualifies for free VED if it's not fitted with that bike engine option. Well you never know!

Re: breakdown truck
On this day, 15th August, 1962, the BMC model ADO16 was launched.
You might know it better as The 1100/1300 series. The only model to carry all six badge marques of BMC, this was pre-BL remember. the link is well worth a read, it explains how the Mini caused BMC a few headaches and how they tried to learn lessons, creating in the process, further headaches. Those marques were: Austin; MG; Morris; Riley; Wolseley & Vanden Plas. In addition there were estate cars and even an attempt at a convertible. Perhaps Rich is right, I'm too old to appreciate modern styling, for the appearance of these cars, to me, came the start of the Eurobox, safe, simple and bland. Be interesting to see if any of you click the drool emoticon.

Re: breakdown truck
i will admit to loving the ado16, in all its forms..

Re: breakdown truck
I suppose that given that you have three children, the ADO16 would be a good way of owning a classic that you can get all the family in.rich. wrote:i will admit to loving the ado16, in all its forms..![]()

Reggie Kray? I thought it was George Melly.

George Melly, that Sir, is a real compliment. George was known for his hats, but he was an amazing wit, raconteur, musician and broadcaster. He wrote two biographies, the first, Owning Up, is brilliant.
Here are a couple of pictures of George, the first is when he was far less flambouyant, not the George that people know. The second is George at his best. That I should remind you of George Melly, what an honour.

Re: breakdown truck
George Melly?
Yes, I see the resemblance, but at first I read the name incorrectly and arrived at the erroneous conclusion that a different Mr Melly was being discussed:

Silly me, Roger's surname is written with an ie rather than a y on the end. D'oh!
