Thrust release bearing

Evening all, first time using this new forum, all looks very nice!

Quick question: Got a mk2 escort, 1300, should the release bearing in the clutch always spin when the clutch pedal is up? Have adjusted the cable and although i can get clearance by pulling the release arm myself, i can't get it to clear by adjusting the cable.

Af anyone could help it would be great as it's doing me head in!

If this is a proper bearing and not a carbon pad, then it's OK for it to maintain light contact with the fingers of the cover when the clutch is engaged, yes. If, however, it's a carbon thrust pad, there ought to be a small amount of clearance.

In a car where there's a bearing, then the spring on the release fork will maintain that contact. If there's a carbon thrust pad in there, the spring is connected to keep the carbon slightly away from the clutch cover.
