I've only been able to do doughnuts in the RR on a wet field. Saying that I haven't tried to get it sideways. Once I have finished adding metal, it is something to try.

Well, I know this is tempting fate, but not had to get the spanners out much but have been driving about in the sunny weather a lot.

I'm driving her to work most days (30 mile round trip) and a longer trip to the Bristol Classic car show 2 weeks ago but other than that, she has very quickly fallen back into the role of family fun vehicle.

I did have a headlamp blow so it gave me the excuse to fit a halogen conversion and then she leapt into action to jump start my girls Daewoo which has been standing around since my Mum died, she left it to the girls but waiting to be got back on the road when we can afford the insurance. Started the service today though.

nice pics!! how much have you been quoted for insurance for the girls or do they have to be nearing retirement before its affordable??

Last quote I had was August last year when my eldest had just passed her test and was just 18. It was £1500!!

Now that she has been driving almost a year and I'm told that insurance in general has come down, I'm hoping it will be a little lower.

The car will have to be registered in her name for them to even consider. Found best quotes were with companies that advertise young driver insurance. I think my best quote was actually from Adrian flux.

Worst quote was for over £8K!!!

Don't know if you can still get them but you used to be able to find policies for younger drivers that were called bonus accelerator. Reason being is the policy is only 10 months but at the end you get another years no claims (subject to not claiming of course)!

I seem to remember Admiral offered this type of policy, might be worth a try.

Nephew is with Admiral, I can't remember if it's the 10 month one, but they did offer a multicar discount if we put ours on too, only issue there was he doesn't live at this address, they wouldn't do it as all cars have to be at one address.

It was still £1700 odd quid for the year, which is extortion to insure a £200 car!

we have Just been quoted £1200 for a 1.3i 2005 ford KA for daughter (learning but not passed test yet)
Thats in her name and needs a black box thingy fitted in the car

I did try admiral last year. They refused to quote at all!

I was close, just checked and it is 'Bell Direct' that do the accelerator policies (they are part of the Admiral group).

Here's the link - they claim to be 'new driver friendly'!

Hi Kevin, £1200 seems very expensive for a learner driver. My daughters was about £750. It then skyrockets as soon as they pass their test! So took the Dawoo off the road then. She drives my company Honda when she's home from Uni.

I really want to get it back on the road so she can build up some no claims and has transport when she goes back to her Uni She wont be in halls on the campus anymore. Don't really want her walking the streets of london on her own.

Also, youngest is 17 in 11 months! (Bl**dy hell! that makes me feel so old!)
