Oh nothing like that. I just had to make sure it went through all the gears, stopped in a straight line, didn't weave about and all the bits were tight. It did go very well. Typical of a hot Ford hatch of the period. The engine performance out stripped the handling inspite of having all new performance suspension etc. Please don't read this until after the show has gone out!!

Many moons ago there was a nice flat stretch on the out skirts of Brum that was great for road tests. Years before speed cameras and nowhere for the Police to hide and jump out. Sadly it's like a storage facility for speed bumps now! I nearly binned an MGA during an 'engine tune' when I realised that the brakes only had a rudimentary retarding action at anything over 60 MPH!!!

For a better class of DeLorean fettling action, you need to see For The Love of Cars - C4 between your Sunday's dinner and part 5 of Fargo - as they're restoring an example of everyone's favourite, bizarrely constructed alternative to a Renault Alpine. I haven't watched that episode of CCR yet as I was at work this morning when it was on. (the Myth box missed it when it appeared last night but it recorded the repeat at 11:40, is my PVR trying to influence what I look at, I wonder)?

So we have the battle of the TV car shows featuring nasty cars built by American criminals in a British factory, which will be better? Mario Wossisface & Bernie the bolt or DI Gene Hunt & the bastard son of Dean Friedman. I'd far rather be staring at 7x9's arse, come back Voyager, all is forgiven.

Classic Car Rescue winds me up no end! I keep watching it purely because it has cars in it, but why do they fill the programme with staged "accidents" instead of showing you the work they are actually doing on the vehicles?!

I have enjoyed For the love of cars and the work they turn out is superb, but interesting they don't talk about budgets at the end of the show!!

That they don't talk about the budget is one of the things that I like about it as much. After all, grass roots enthusiasts aren't all about the profit so that's a good thing, IMHO.
They're playing the auction venue question very close to their chest aren't they. Bear in mind that the DeLorean was completed a good few months ago and was the last of the series, so it would be reasonable to assume that the major auction hice would show the cars in their past results but if they do, I haven't been able to find them. Not even the Mexico which - although massively hyped and often overpriced - is rare in such level condition.
I can't wait to see how the last episode pans out, will theirs be overpainted and hiding bodged panels? Will they talk sh*t about Galvanised steel and its properties and will Phil travel Texas way to pay a fortune for n/o/s parts as Mario did? Four and a half days to go.
