Ooh, ooh, SD1 Diesel!

Shame it weighs a little more than 550Kg. (Got round the whole manual transmission thing with the Cinq by - brief version - registering it as a heavy quad (it weighs far below 550Kg, even with the fuel tank full and its spare wheel mounted) in a European country. Only PLG vehicles are divided into separate auto and manual categories for registration purposes, quads and tricycles aren't , hence I may drive my tiny Fiat legally. Now if I could manage its grotesquely heavy clutch physically.. But I can't shift it, so am no further forward. How much of a Rover SD1 d'you reckon would be left by the time you'd managed to get it over the weighbridge at <550Kg? )

That should be entirely possible and a decent auto could be an improvement, but the Diesel is such a rare car that it would be a great shame to modify.
