Motor racing shows .Over 60's only probably

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Motor racing shows .Over 60's only probably

#1 Post by zipgun »

Prior to the (January) Autosport International at NEC , was there another annual motorsport show , for manufactures to show their wares ? Looking only at late 1979 ,early '80's ??
I'm trying to research a supposed "works " car. The car dealer ,who bought it direct from Ford (in a mess, he told me) 30 years ago , said it was also used as a motor show car . Can't say too much , it's not my car ,but if there WAS a motorsport show , googling might be a lot easier if i could type in more than "1979 motor racing show"!
I don't think there was a normal London motorshow in 1979 either?

There would have been an Earl's Court motor show in '79 because the (first) NEC motor show happened in 1978 and the London venue was used on the years in between the shows at the NEC. Sorry this doesn't find your Motor Sport show, might it be worth looking on the
Motor Sport mag archive site and signing up for their forum to ask the question? Their average reader (my Dad has been a subscriber since 1949) is about 90 the older person so someone will know and they're a fascinating bunch of petrolheads on there. ;)
