1972 Triumph Dolomite 1850
Re: 1972 Triumph Dolomite 1850
Solution to the accommodation part of that dilemma:
Sell that lovely Automite and use some of the proceeds to purchase a classic camper van. Sorted!

Re: 1972 Triumph Dolomite 1850
Do you think they'd mind a tent out the front?

Re: 1972 Triumph Dolomite 1850
You will have to borrow the 3 wheeled "caravan" John keeps denying is his. At least to the casual observer it is just a car.
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

Re: 1972 Triumph Dolomite 1850

However, I do have a usable and mostly watertight** Sprite Alpine of mid '70s manufacture. You'd be welcome to that as long as the special plants that are a part of the van could join you on your holiday. No naked flames mind.
**It only leaks in through a slightly broken roof vent but there's a Sainsbury's bag doing great service on there just now and last time I was up by where the van is kept, only a very small amount of water had got in. So slight in fact that the rats were quite unharmed.

Re: 1972 Triumph Dolomite 1850
Hmmm, or maybe I could hack the back of the Automite off, and replace it with said caravan in a

kind of way??

kind of way??
Re: 1972 Triumph Dolomite 1850
I hope that wasn't a 3500! Whatever it was, it has been ruined and is only good as a donor now.

Re: 1972 Triumph Dolomite 1850
Afraid to say it is/was. Not sure of the reasons why, but it's a way of getting a rear ended one back on the road

Re: 1972 Triumph Dolomite 1850
A better use for it than ending up on the banger track where most went.
Re: 1972 Triumph Dolomite 1850
To be fair, burning it is a better use than putting it round an oval track.
The car bit looks gorgeous. If as much work went in to the factory metal as went in to sticking fibreglass rubbish to the back, it would be amazing!

Re: 1972 Triumph Dolomite 1850
I've met that in the flesh, so to speak, at a large show darn sarf some years ago and it's done in a way that follows the general standard of accommodation you'd expect from a factory P5B. Bloomin' lovely and even better than a Tandy Fox camper IMHO.
