#1 Post by UKJeeper »

If you're of a technical inclination, i stumbled across this offer. Get a free digital copy of PC (other mags are available but why choose them! )

Note, turns out its for IOS users only.

Where does it say ios only? I can see it saying digital UK & oseas but no mention of ios.
I prefer mine on paper anyway so won't be swapping to digital unless they make every issue free ;)
Just a thought, if they made back issues available FOC for digital subscribers or at a fixed price to access the whole lot I would do that as it may prevent my bedroom ceiling from collapsing under the weight of 10+ years of PC.

Just subscribed to the same thing.

It is only after you click on a email from them, that you are told to download the Apple app.

Waste of time for me and probably hundreds of others, seeing i am on a Android phone!!!!

Cheers

That's a bit pants then!
My tablet and phone are both android. I refuse to have Apple stuff as they seem to double the price just so you can have a half eaten apple logo on the back :S

Why is it, most things seem to be geared up for an inferior OS? Don't they realise normal people don't all follow the iHype??

No need to delete the thread UKJ, I have modified the title as there are will be some people out there that have a fruity phone / tablet that would like to take advantage of it :)
All too many companies seem to forget that apple is only a small percentage of the market, they are just the most vocal percentage.

 For a while there, I thought that I was going to be a lone Android voice in an ocean of i-crap. Needn't have worried though.

Terry, my apology before it becomes necessary. I wasn't intending to argue the relative merits of different operating systems, just a little peeved that Bauer Media take us through all of that rigmarole only to arrive - eventually - on a page where they want us to go to something called the "app store?" :?

I love my enormous pile of PCs that go right back to vol 1, number one. I like the sensation of turning pages and maybe sniffing photos of Bedford CAs, classic Japanese hatchbacks, GRP-bodied Venezuelan minis (I wish), Dolomites, Fiat 500s or anything Sam Gloveresque that may appear inside but here's a question for those in charge of such things at PCHQ: Given that many people like their downloads these days, why can we not have the option of a digital edition that's available for download in a universal format (PDF would seem to be the obvious way) so that we can have our dose of magazine on anything from a phone to a smart telly, any OS from Android to Windows?
Better yet, why not include a download code in every copy of the mag so that anyone who has legitimately obtained a paper copy will be able to get a free download of the same mag. OK, so the tightarses who read theirs standing in the shop and then put it back and leave would see the code too, but that would be a matter for the security staff at WH Smith to deal with. :)

Don't know about most vocal, Terry. Most obsessive would be my take on the way in which Apple fans sleep on the streets for days at a time to be sure of their space in the queue to have the first editions of new kit.
iPads must be halfway decent though, I spilt marmalade all over a friend's one and that still works. :x

There is one plus point to a digital copy, the pages won't stick together should it contain said Bedford, a Micra, and a Reliant!
