Just realised at 11pm on a Saturday night that Christine's (yes the neon has a name)
Statutory Off Road Notification declaration ran out 10 days ago!
I did receive a renewal notice about a month ago, but I can't remember where it went
luckily I managed with the logbook and did it online.

I swear my memory is getting worse, as I left my glasses at the check out at the
supermarket last week, as I went back home to get the wallet I left on the dinning room
table!

Okay been ill with the dreaded lurgy(flu) and spent the last
2 days trying to sweat it out of me!

I managed to call Motorcool about custom radiator quote,
but with losing my voice this was a job in it's self.

The cost of a brass and copper radiator, custom made to
my requirements is about £250 plus tax.

Unfortunately whats left of my voice totally gave out, so I
was unable to pay the deposit over the phone with my
card! Mother has agreed to do it in the morning for me.

Right I'm putting my head back in a steam herb bath to
try and shift the lurgy!

Mother made the call on tuesday morning. The deposit of £150
has been paid. The time for it to be made is about a week
according to the gentleman making it. So I will call in about 2
weeks so I'm not pushy and as I can never tell what my health
will do next.

I spent a little time on the car this afternoon, trying not to let this flu return.
With sheets of A4 paper with connector pin outs, flapping in the wind and a
roll of address labels.

Each cable was labelled numbered with plug position of each wire.
I did find a difference between the USA and UK cars that was not mentioned
in any of the manuals I have seen unless I have accidental over looked it
somehow!

These 2 wires aren't on the gray powertrain/engine control module plug
pin 72, K17 18OR, VAPOUR CANISTER PUMP SWITCH DRIVER
pin 77, K106 18WT/LG, VAPOUR CANISTER SOLENOID DRIVER

Any idea what I'm missing? or will I be finding other things that aren't in the car
that should be, and things that are in the car that shouldn't be according to the
manual?

Here's hoping that this one will fit. :crossed fingers emoticon would be here if I could be bothered looking one out:

Nearly home & dry now though, so might we see the car in the flesh at the first Metro Centre RR meet of this year? (That's on the 11th of April, for those who didn't know). 8-)

Just over 3.5 weeks to the 11th of April, that is a meet I won't make
unfortunately, as I have limited funds and the custom radiator could
max me out cash wise!

Okay with reference to the two missing wires on pins 72 an 77 of the
ECU plug.
Tbird100636 of LXforums wrote:Those wires are for the Evaporative Emissions System's Leak Detection Pump
(formerly known as Vapor Canister Pump) which you likely don't have
on your car or donor engine. It only came on California Emissions
equipped vehicles. It was used to monitor the fuel vapor system and
fuel system for vapor leaks. Apparently, fuel vapor (unburned HC) has
an effect on the destruction of the ozone layer and contributes to smog
development. So in cars destined for Cali and other states with high
smog risk there is a modified emissions package, which includes the LDP
system. One less thing to worry about when it comes time to fire the car
up and drive.
This also the same thought of those on other American based forums.
So a few things less to worry about and less to fitI hope!

I started putting some of the wiring back on the engine, starting with
the injector loom with temp sensor and crank sensor.

Image

The Alternator wiring was carefully removed from the rest and will run
to the frame along infront of the radiator with other wiring, then up to
the fuse board and ECU. This is for a good reason as if I change the
ancillaries around and but the alternator round the back later then the
wiring will be still long enough and is easier to remove.

Image

When I was routing the wiring for the Starter Motor and solenoid I
taped the wiring up to make it easier to feed through the front engine
mount. This was a bad idea as I hat pull it all back out as I hadn't left
enough cable on the solenoid cable. So after re-wraping it and feeding
it back through the mount it too is ready to be connected up to the
neon's fuse board.

I Stopped and put everything away as it started to spit onto rain :(
As I was sitting down waiting for the bath to run(Legs and feet like ice)
friends of the family popped over. One of them used to be an engineer
for a brake and clutch manufacturer, I asked him the following;

"Is there such a thing as a flexible pipe for use on the Exhaust Gas
Recycle System, so both I and my father don't have an absolute hassle
in cutting and welding a metal pipe with all the twists and bends?"

He did say the name of a company that might be able to help with a
stainless steel fexy pipe that also makes custom parts for for lift trucks.
Mother made a note of it as I went and tried to get warm again!

If they can do it, it will save me time and hassle, but I have no idea at
what cost, if it is truly a flexible pipe then this will make fitting it to the
inlet manifold, the exhaust manifold and EGR valve better for maintenance.

Well thats something for monday to find out.
