An afternoon off saw a walk with the dog across the fields to the pub and a pint of Betty something or other but it was Camra's champion beer of Britain and lovely. This was followed by new plugs in the Midget, removal of the aircon drive belt and tensioner in the Saab (it doesn't work so I thought I'd save a tiny bit of fuel by removing the belt) This process removed the skin from one knuckle, the belts being at the bulkhead end there's not alot of space. I then set about starting to repair the trim on the wheelarch that was attacked by a Corsa last week as I can't find a replacement.
Great afternoon all round.

I collected my range complete with (almost) all new suspension bushes. Dave had found the cause of the "clonk" although various bushes were well past their best the clonk wasn't a failed bush. The bracket that the rear tie bar connects to had snapped off the axle on one side. Some fabrication and a bit of welding now i have a clonk free range rover that is a bit less like driving a boat.
A replacement PAS box and new pump has fixed the leak and made the steering much lighter but it needs adjusting as there is too much play.
While it was in Dave also found a brake pipe had been rubbing on a steering joint and was weeping so he replaced that too.
I'm going back with it one evening this week to do the front anti-roll bar bushes then that's them all done.
I hope this is the end of the irritating jobs for a little while!

You should have called the fuzz. They will have it towed for you.

Today i adjusted my tailgates so they open and close more easily then changed the rear brake pads on my modern.

Your locals are pants, I had one towed from the side of the road outside work within an hour because they were obstructing the loading bay.

Tell them your wife is pregnant and you need to be able to get your car out.

Especially not if the operator "accidentally" lifts the car by piercing a couple of its doors then, also accidentally, drops the car on its remaining good side.

Terry, I think that your experience of having a Polis get involved in the removal of a car in these circumstances is atypical. Around here they may, eventually, tip up to do something if the errant parker has blocked or used a badgeholder or ambulance parking bay illegally or if they believe that the car has been used in some crime or other (which a broken window or two on the car will usually help them to deduce... ;) ;) ), but the rest of the time the Plod is so stretched these days that they can barely keep up with the current trends involving fuel thefts, false plates being used to commit the former, real crime such as letting your dog crap on the road, etc.

"Home is where you park it", so the saying goes. That may yet come true..

Towing cars makes them money so they should be on it pretty quickly! £120 + £7 a day from the driver of the vehicle that was causing an obstruction sounds like easy money.
