I have cleaened and gasket sealed the vacuum caps on the
LPG injector connectors.

Image

I then dropped in the battery tray and slid the throttle body
on with a connecting flex pipe to get an idea where to fix the
Transmission Level Dipstick Pipe, where to fix the coil pack.

Image

Errrrr!!!!!!!!
Where the heck do I put the coil pack???
And I found that the upper water pipe from the engine to the
heater matrix is directly under the hole in the intake manifold
for the Exhaust Gas Recycle pipe.

I may have to redo the that heater pipe.

Image

And the Transmission fluid level dipstick pipe has been fixed to
the top of engine using the bolt for fixing the upper manifold
to the engine.

Image

And it is just clear of the exhaust manifold so it doesn't heat up!

Image

Image

Last job of the day was to take the filter apart and reassemble it
and using gasket seal to fix it up as there were too many gaps.

As for the wheel colour I borrowed the wheel off this neon

Image

And used paint to get bright red with white wall.

Image

A spray effect in paint for a burgundy colour effect.

Image

And theres the standard black.

I think the colour keying works well red on red. Maybe Chrysler green on Chrysler green would sit nice on yours
Landrovers and Welding go together like Bread and Butter. And in the wet they are about as structurally sound

/\/\/\ WHS. Not sure about the whitewalls though. Genuine ones are probably massively expensive and Atlas flaps, no matter how frequently you grease them to prevent chafing, aren't the safest of solutions.

I did a little organising in the car before a little cleaning.
The boot was emptied and brushed out, before tackling
the drainage channel along the bottom of the rear wind
screen. As the car hasn't been used the wind hadn't
blown and rubbish or leaves out of that channel, and
was well over due for a clear out. Luckily no sign of rust
or rot!

As I had previously just pushed the cables for the ABS
and LPG through the hole into the rear passenger foot
well, I thought it time they were put through the grommet
and put under the carpet. The cables are run down the
side of the car into the drivers foot well, were I will need
to extend the ABS cables through the bulkhead and into
the engine bay.

Last quick thing done before knocking off(I couldn't feel
my feet and my knees were like ice too) I used the leather
feed on the rear seats and the drivers seat as it looks like
they were starting to dry out a bit.

Okay as it had rained early in the morning there were puddles under the
car but as it was 17+ degrees C in February I thought oh to hell with it!!

Time to get the struts off so that the springs can be changed at a garage.

Image

Ready to be taken tomorrow with the mk2 R/T springs which will lift the
front end up and take the little added weight difference between the
old 4 cylinder engine and the v6 which is now in.
And I have been using penetrating oil on the top nut to make it easier
for the garage to remove it!

Image

As the car is parked infront of dad's garage, and he is cutting up scrap
bits of wood for the wood burning fire in the front room. The old girl has
been getting covered in sawdust as well as the bird droppings and mud
off the drive. A quick wash and scrub-up and let the warm sun dry her.

Image

And ready for dad getting back from work, an old car cover wich looks
like it was ment for a left hand drive car as there is a zip for access to
the left front door!

Image

Lets see what the weather actually does over night before I do some
more work on the old girl.

Well mother took me to the garage in the village just behind the co-op store.
The mk1 neon struts will be fitted with mk2 r/t neon springs and will be ready
for collection tomorrow morning.

However as I was turning to walk with the springs to walk to the car, Danny
being a total nutter and thought it was play time ran into me!
I went down like a sack of spuds, and my right knee hurts like hell, but I dare
not take painkillers before 6pm or I will end up sleeping the full day.

So much for doing stuff on the car!!!!
On another note my PC parts arrived guess what I will end up doing instead!

Collected the struts this morning!
Remember that these are standard mk1 neon struts with
mk2 R/T neon springs fitted.

Image

After the struts are refitted to the car and wheels put back
on I thought it was time for little measuring, as the bottom of
front cross member is about the bout of the front bumper I
measured from there!

Image

Sorry old but faithful tape measure, this makes it clearer.

Image

And now a quick measurement of the wheel arch to tyre.
remember that these are mk2 R/T neon springs, if I had used
standard mk2 neon springs the hight would be a about 2
inches more. Now that would looks stupid!

As dad needed clear out behind the garage so!!!
I haven't seen this bumper in a couple of years, as it has been hidden
under dad's wood and mothers junk! It is off my first Neon, it was
stripped of parts before being sent to the scrapyard. It even still has
it's original licence plate. I wish I had kept the engine as it was sound
and faultless.

Image

Okay as the weather was good for a couple of hours, I have had enough
of the a/c pipe which was getting in the way but it can't be used so off
it comes but I left enough so it can be reattached with a compression
coupling later.

Image

I then decided it was time to refit the front bumper, as it has been sitting
on the garden for over 6 months now!

Image

Image

I need to get some clips for the plastic inner wheel arch to be screwed to
the bumper, I will pick some up when I go food shopping.

Nothing done on the car but for the car.
After having my regular appointment at the local hospital, it was
down to Motorcool in Thornaby(Stockton-on-Tees) to drop the
Mazda RX7 radiator (the race radiator which has been in and out
of the neon and altered)off again for measuring up for a quote
for a full custom made radiator.

The gentleman at Motorcool had returned from his 2 week holiday
only to be unable to find the details for the quote. As well as the
radiator it's self, I had also measured and sketched the engine
bay so that all detailed question that may be asked would be
covered(just in case).

One thing I did state was that if needed the fixing pins might not
be needed if there were a strip down both sides at the front of
the radiator which could be used to bolt the radiator to the slam
panel, and there is enough space for this as an option.

So all answers on the quote on Monday I hope!
