Micra - Losing power uphill!! - NOW SORTED (I HOPE)
Re: Micra - Losing power uphill!!
Y suffix is August 1st 1982-July 31st, 1983, which would make it one of the earliest K10s imported, badged "Datsun, made by Nissan" rather than simply Nissan so I'm guessing that the O/P's car is a 2001 version built in Washington and in fact a Y prefix. So it's pretty new really.

Re: Micra - Losing power uphill!!
OK, at last we know what year it is.
It's therefore an injection model, so tell us - is the engine management light working, and if so is it on? Even if it's not, it might be worth getting the codes read, and definately your first stop if it is!
If I was guessing I'd guess MAF/MAP, but guessing is time consuming and expensive, so worth diagnising properly IMHO.
Cheers

Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.

If it's a 2001, again check for blocked catalytic converter. Should be easy to tell, have someone rev it and see if you're getting much back pressure from the tail pipe.
