Ebay have relented,,well sort of!!

#1 Post by Pilkie »

HORRAY!!
Looks like Ebay have relented, well almost!!

"Quote Email from Ebay this morning"

I am sorry for the delay in responding to your email. I completely
understand what you are explaining in the previous communication and I
agree to your view point as this has not been as handy as earlier
however, I have a good news for you that we have made some changes in
the system to make this more user friendly . Changes on eBay are made
after prolonged consideration and keeping in view the satisfaction and
ease of our members. I can understand that it is indeed very difficult
to adapt with something when you're habitual of using something for long
time. I have explained reasons why Classic car parts category has been
merged and how you/your buyers can still search for them easily as we've
added "Classic car part" as an item specific to the site. This will
allow the sellers to select "Classic car part" in item specific while
listing their item and after the item is listed on the site the buyers
can use the 'Classic car part' from the item specific to find their
required items.

Though the category structure has been changed, the search functionality
remains the same. Keyword searches will still direct buyers to listings,
as was the case before the category changes. Refining search will make
this task easy for you. For example, to find parts for 'Volkswagen Type
1 Beetle'. Type 'Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle' in the search box, select
'Car Parts' (from the left hand side of the search result page) from the
given categories and the next page will allow you to select only the
'Classic car parts' from item specifics and you can easily search the
car part you are looking for.

I hope I've explained everything clearly. If you need any more
information please get in touch.

Oh, how very nice of them to respond and not sound condescending :) That will be useful to know now.

 That's almost, but not quite, as simple as using eBay.de or any other regional site that hasn't yet succumbed to the changes and searching classic car parts from there, selecting UK as item location. Result: Much as it used to be with the exception of one or two iffy translations, but works nonetheless! ;)

Yes I noticed the new "classic car parts" section in the left-hand column today while searching for parts. I've been ticking the "classic car" box when listing stuff to sell recently but didn't know they'd put this new section in till today. As long as sellers notice the box to tick (I thought it could be easily overlooked) things should be easier for us now. (Hopefully !) :)

OMG, don't get me started on this. I am totally hating hating hating them... When I was living in Rome a few years back, the changes started, and it's been going downhill ever since. Overcrowding my bloody news feed with things 'Facebook thinks will be interesting for you'. Sod offffff.....

I use facebook on my Iphone mainly, so I avoid a lot of the crap you see on the computer. I hadn't used a PC for a while as I was on holidays last week when everyone started giving out about it. It is a bit overkill alright, I made sure I updated all my privacy settings.

Bang on - exacly my policy too!
Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.

Do you think we could have the Ebay response above translated into English?
Sounds as though it came out of an Indian call centre...
