ECU help needed
ECU help needed
Please note I am posting this as a separate subject/thread and on my
build thread
I have recently discovered that the ecu I have off the Chrysler Voyager
has not been worked on! That means it has not had the security
protocols removed (SKIM) so that it can be used on another vehicle.
I found out when I contacted the company I had been told who had done this.
I was asking anout the remote entry option that is in the unit.
I even sent pictures to help them reference the work.
I was shocked to find that if they had done the work there would be two
stickers one as a warranty or proof that it had been worked on
and the other a reference number for them. And there isn't any
stickers.
The Company was ECU doctor, they did state that they wouldn't touch
Chrysler or Dodge ECUs. The lady who called me gave me contact details
for 2 other companies who may have done the work. ECU-Testing and
ECU-clinic. I have contacted both an they have said it wasn't them.
The garage which was doing it for me be done, by sending the ecu to
the ECU-Doctor to have some work done to it!
I can't speak to that garage anymore as the owner did a runner
leaving his employees in financial trouble (not paying taxes etc).
The Garage was called
Swift Bay
Unit 11
Ross Road
Stockton on Tees, TS18 2NH
Phone: 01642 634444
Fax: 01642 602200
And run by Gary Carthy.
And yes I paid the guy when he said it had come back done!
I have yet to use or test the ecu as the build is still in progress.
But it is looking like I will need someone to do the work on the ecu
if it hasn't been done, which means forking out even more money which
I don't have!
Sorry for the rant but I need help on this.

Re: ECU help needed
Yeh sorry just found the links. i have a 3.3 auto voyager, nice and powerful but dreadful on fuel and it makes me nervous every time i drive it waiting for the inevitable gearbox failure that sooner or later will occur on any voyager auto.
Its a shame your using the AC i really need a hub assembly for mine and i cant find one in the UK.

Re: ECU help needed
Just to prove to myself that my ecu hasn't been touched!
I popped out to the tool shed and picked up the voyager and a neon ecu.
first the sticker showing chrysler's details on the v6 ecu

Gary said the chip had been changed inside the unit.
The casing screws one of them is too hard to move and is full of rust.

I removed the 2 other screws and lifted the cover and swivelled it on the
bad screw to gain access. Below are 2 photos of the contents.

I don't see how they changed the chip, do you?
I the got a neon ecu out which I know hasn't been touched.

So there is no way the skim chip has been touched.

Re: ECU help needed
I have emailed about a dozen companies in the UK, who claim
to decode/remove skim/remove security protocols on car ecu's.
So the question is who will even reply, and and will they work on it!
I will post their responses when they come in and state the no shows.

Re: ECU help needed
When I emailed the various companies about getting the ecu sorted out.
I included a ink to the build on neons.org which includes my ranting on the subject!!!
I think I shot myself in the foot on that score as the companies I asked about them
being able to do the work would be able to see my ranting on the subject!
I have had 2 replies to my enquires.
Darren from http://www.ecudecode.co.uk based in Westbury in Wiltshire.

Which is easier to get done in the USA as Chrysler/Dodge vehicles are more common.
My emails are to find a UK based company who can do what is needed over here
and not have to wait on the posting delays and customs charges.
If I can find companies in the UK to do things then other people have Chryslers and
Dodges over here can get much needed work done easily and not be forced to scrap
a vehicle because they can't get the work done!
Oh and once the quotes are in I will be able to find out pricing before I send it off.
Lets see the good, the bad, and the ugly pricing!
Sorry rambled!

Daniel from http://www.ecurepairs.co.uk based in Plymouth in Devon.I believe I can help with this. If you send your engine ECU.
I will take a look and get back to you.
The charge will be £80 + insured P&P if we can help.
The offer Daniel has referred to is an old quote from an American company on a threadI have read the post with much interest but unfortunately there is not a lot
I will be able to do mainly because as you may understand there is not a real
market for Chrysler ECUs in the UK thus making some investment on equipment
to do these ECUs wouldn't be worth it, thus I would advice you to go for the
$100 option that you had been offered. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help.

I looked into mega-squirt and I'm still keeping a eye on heir experiments!jimmyybob wrote:Did you do any research on the megasquirt system.? i think it maybe the

They are looking into the option of a ms option for controlling the Chrysler/dodge
automatic gearbox I have. And the transmission control unit and the ecu operate
on a bus system with details on sensors passing between them for speed, temp etc.
Not to mention the cost in the case of having to have 2 mega-squirt units one to
run the electronically controlled transmission and the other for the engine.
You do realise the cost of a single mega-squirt unit is about £300 to £400 plus!
And that is just for the brain and not taking into count the extra/different sensors!
I do know that SymTechLabs who manufacture and develop mega-squirt units are
currently working on a plug in and play option for the standard mk1 neon reusing the
housing for the neon's original ecu, and using all the neons original sensors etc.
But that will be some time in the future.
