Re: Nearly New Hillman Avenger anyone?

Why has it got Hillman avenger boot badge on the n/s front wing but not on the o/s?
Looks well dodgy.

My grandad bought one of these new in the early 70s to replace a triumph 2000 mk 1. He thought they were rubbish.

Re: Why Have people stopped indicating???

I've noticed this as well. It's likely due to a: "Why should I "attitude.
I did the advanced test not long after the standard driving test, (the police organised it through the sixth form for free) and my instructor taught me never to signal unless there was someone who would benefit from the ...

Re: Super Rare Mercedes Gets Totaled By Shop Mechanics

I notice the vehicle is wearing spinners "before" the crash and hub caps "after".
Attempting to swap the wheel embellishments at speed is obviously beyond the capabilities of Mercedes mechanics - pah, rank amateurs.

Re: brake pedal solid

When I rebuilt the brakes on my ex-Riley 1.5, I fitted a remote servo and had exactly your problem. Undoing the air valve allowed the system to equalize and had no problems after that.

Re: Commuter Classic

A mate of mine who is a mechanic would agree with you there. He has always maintained that the AUDI 80/90 were the high tide point in VAG quality and that it was downhill from there. He always buys Honda's because in his words: "we rarely see them in the garage because they don't tend to go wrong ...

Re: Commuter Classic

Morris minors are good cars but you'd have to get one in top condition in the first place. I recently had the misfortune to own a riley 1.5 (effectively a minor with a B series engine and a bit more bling). It was the worst car I Have ever driven, would never start from cold, rusted like you would ...

Re: 1973 cars will become tax exempt

Great news. My 73 Midget becomes tax exempt after 8 years of ownership. Shame it's just about ready for a rebuild.

Re: SU carbs oil level

Problem now sorted.

I stripped the carbs completely hoping to find some dirt in there but nothing obvious.
Re-assembled but still seemed to be stuttering when the throttle blipped.

Swapped the new Lumention coil, (installed as part of a conversion to electronic ignition last year whilst trying to ...
