I'm (hopefully) getting close to finishing an engine swap in my Mercedes. I've gone down the route of replacing the 2.8 original, but knackered and very thirsty engine with a low mileage 2.3 out of a saloon I ran for a year that had a horribly rotten body.
Even this swap isn't straightforward - I ...

Re: Where are classics concentrated
Right, I think I've managed to get most of it sorted out now (other than the front page, which I might change a bit anyway). Took a lot of effort to sort all the files out, and fingers crossed make the site a bit more secure.

Re: Where are classics concentrated
Yep, the stats on how each county compares to average is per capita, otherwise it'd be meaningless.
There are 3 groups of classics I've looked at - the first is trying to get a reasonable cross section of classics, the second is the more expensive end of the market, and the last is the more ...

Where are classics concentrated
hi guys,
I've not posted anything in a while, but thought you might be interested in some analysis I've done with DfT stats. It shows which counties have more than average or less than average numbers of classics (taking into account their population), and shows how many of a few selected models ...

Barn Find DB6!
Hi all,
I know it's not very 'practical' but I pass a small car sales place on the way to work and this morning was surprised to see a DB6 in there. They usually have cars around the £500 to £5k mark, with the odd £15k one every now and then.
They weren't open when I was on the way to work, but I ...

Re: rust
I'm doing a fair amount of de-rusting and painting both on removable parts and the body on my Mercedes.
Was impressed with the Deox powder - especially if you can keep it hot. The Gel also works but it seems to take a while longer, and you have to wrap it in cling film or else it dries out and is ...

Re: "Project wedding" Mercedes W123 280 coupe
Took today off and spent the morning at the lock up.
I got one of the semi-trailing arms off, but my impact wrench was getting a little low on power so couldn't quite get the second bolt off the other one. I also got the diff off and one of the drive shafts; the circlip on the other one's being ...

Re: Am Tech Compression Tester
I also have a Gunson one. I got the more expensive one, with a few long reach adaptors. The one bit of advice I'd say is to use the adaptor rather than screw the flexible pipe straight into the plug hole if it's deep. The first time I used it was on a Porsche 944 engine and it took me a long while ...
