Re: Unregistered Ford Thames 400e
The 400e was a widely used van with the electricity boards, we had about twenty of them in our local area. Many hours spent freezing our bits off (early versions had no heaters and later ones were so pathetic they were damn nigh worthless). I always liked driving them though, yes they had their ...

Re: speeders database
JPB, a little add-on to your piece on Wallsend and it's speed laws.
Talking to a woman who works on the High Street, she was going home for lunch driving towards the coast and noticed a police car behind her so she kept her speed below 20. The car followed her all the way through the limited area ...

Re: speeders database
It's some prat playing silly B's.
Tried entering my cars number, result was that it had been caught in Durham on the 29th of last month. Clever, the car has never been in the north east, it is in fact locked up in a garage 300 miles away and has been for a good number of weeks.

Re: WASHER FLUID HEATER
Years ago I bought a screeenwash heater, length of metal pipe fitted into heater feed hose and surrounded by a plastic jacket containg the washer fluid, the unit connected in series between the washer pump and the jets. Simple idea and it worked very well for a number of years until the plastic lost ...
Re: BBC F1
Tractorman, I don't want to upset you regarding paying a licence fee but there is a warning on the front page of the BBC player to that effect.
I only found out when I down loaded an update for the package.
So it looks like the situation is "we know what you are up to, so behave or else we'll make ...

Re: MGB Wiper Problem
Two suggestions for you.
1. Disconnect the bundy drive from the motor, remove the wiper arms from the spindles and withdraw the flexible bundy from it's sheath. Clean it (grease in it will likely be dry/heavy with age), regrease and refit.
2. While you have the drive out, check the condition of the ...

Re: Apologies for re-visiting this EP90 GL4 and GL5 + 20/50
You may have started something with this one.
From trawling a few sites it would appear that Laycock (GKN) did advise the use of 20/50. The problem comes when you look at the car makers sites (MG, Triumph, Reliant etc.) they recommend EP80 grade. The argument is that GKN say that EP 80 is not ...

Re: Apologies for re-visiting this EP90 GL4 and GL5 + 20/50
The only info I can supply re the EP80 oil is that it was Duckhams
The handbook was published back in the 70's and does not list GL numbers.
Yes, both cars were / are manual with overdrive and are syncro boxes. I should also state that the oil was changed at service intervals - just in case ...

This may (or maybe not) a help to you.
I ran a Scimitar 6a with overdrive for about 100k miles. The oil used in the gearbox was EP80 as suggested by the owners manual.
No problems in any form. When I parted with the car it had done over 150k on the drive train and it was still in good condition.
